General Motors created a monster when they released the LS-based engine on the performance world, and the engine platform continues to grow in popularity. There’s no shortage of aftermarket support for the LS engine and Callies is adding to its LS products with a new version of the Compstar LS Crankshaft.

The Compstar series of LS crankshafts has been popular with its six counterweight unit for some time, and Callies decided to up the strength by adding two more counterweights. This new eight counterweight LS crankshaft is made from 4330 steel, has standard-sized LS rod journals and a six-bolt flange.

Jeremy Robbins from Callies explains why the new Compstar LS crankshaft scored the extra set of counterweights and why this crankshaft was developed.

“This is a stronger crankshaft that can deal with high-horsepower applications. The extra weights were added to the center to add extra strength where it was needed. That helps the crank fight the forces that will cause it to bend in that location. The Compstar LS crank can be used with any application as far as different power adders go.”

Callies designed the Compstar LS crank to have a stroke range of 2.720 inches to 4.250 inches. The crank can have additional options like more post keyways, custom reluctor hub machining or removal, along with custom flange bolt and dowel drilling.
