Assembling an engine takes more than just knowledge about parts, it takes the correct tools to make sure everything goes together as it should. Ferrea Racing Components is building on its reputation of providing great valvetrain parts with its new line of engine assembly tools. The latest tool from Ferrea is its Valve Spring Retainer Measurement Tool that will make identifying valve spring retainer sizes a breeze.
Identifying the size of a valve spring retainer requires precision. You want to be absolutely sure you know exactly what the size is, and that’s where this new Ferrea tool comes in handy. The Valve Spring Retainer Measurement Tool helps you quickly identify what size a valve spring retainer is, while also making sure the hole is up to spec. This tool can identify 6-degree, 7-degree, super 7-degree (a true 8-degree retainer), and 10-degree sized retainers.
Zeke Urrutia provided more information about this handy new tool. “We’re coming out with a new line of tools for engine builders and the Valve Spring Retainer Measurement Tool is part of the first batch of tools we’re going to release. This is a great tool to have around in the shop. It saves you the time of having to measure with the lock and the retainer. You just slide the retainer on this tool and if there’s any type of play, you know the degree on that retainer is larger than the size you have it on, or isn’t true to spec for that size. The tool is made of aluminum and we hard-anodized it for durability.”
