The PRI Show is always full of racer safety equipment and safety products. These are always a hot commodity because over time equipment needs to be replaced or updated. The producers of these goods are always working on improvements so we pay close attention to what is new. RaceQuip has been around for a bit manufacturing and distributing Snell SA Helmets, SFI rated drivers suits, shoes, nomex gloves, window nets, and seat belts.
We noticed some of their new Pro 20 carbon fiber helmets. Patrick Utt explained the benefits.
“We are now offering a Pro 20 Helmet in carbon fiber. Which is a new item for us. We make three models of that helmet. The standard Pro 20 style. We make a side air, and a top air. Both of the latter with forced air induction.”
DragZine: “What is different about this helmet?”
“Well it is a lighter weight version of our old standard Pro helmet, but we were able to build some more features into it. We are really excited about the blower helmets because they move air properly. It channels properly. The air pumped in keeps your face cool. The forced induction keeps the fog off the shield and also cools the driver.”
Can The RaceQuip Carbon Fiber Pro 20 Helmet Make A Better Racer?
DragZine: “If I were a racer, why would I want to throw down the cash to buy this helmet? How will it help them be a better racer?”
“Because of the production methods that we use, the tool steel molds, pre-preg construction techniques, we were able to get the cost of a carbon fiber help down to not much more than a regular composite helmet.”
DragZine is at the 2021 PRI Show bringing live event coverage. Stay tuned for more exciting features, new products, and all of the high tech racing and performance news coming out of the industry.
