SEMA 2019: Forgestar F14 Beadlocks Rock Drag Racing World

At Power Automedia, we publish many different sites, covering many various forms of motorsport, with each having their preferred brands and platforms for our team to include. Luckily stopping into Weld Racing during SEMA means we can hit them all for new wheel designs and innovation from Weld, ADV.1 for Exotics, Momo for Euro and Imports, as well as Forgestar for well . . . every car, now with the release of the first concave monoblock beadlock drag wheel in the World, the F14 Beadlock.

Forgestar released the first-ever concave monoblock beadlock drag wheel in the World, the F14 Beadlock.

Forgestar has become a well-established brand as being the affordable alternative for strong, lightweight, flow-formed wheels. The original multi-piece wheel company (iForged) cut its design chops in the Euro and Import world. After expanding with Forgestar, they rolled out many domestic fitments to appear on Ford, Chevy, and Mopar. It had fans before drag racing heavyweight, Weld Racing, bought the company.

Now Forgestar has really upped the ante from being a solid all-around performer to rethinking the approach to high-torque-capable beadlock designs. It should go without explanation, any drag car making high three- and four-digit horsepower needs beadlock wheels to keep those tires in check. As 2019 unfolded, Forgestar was gradually rolling out the drag-race-ready D5 and D5 Beadlock wheels. Later, the D6 and D6 Beadlock were unveiled before the signature design F14 Drag Pack for muscle cars was the big announcement at SEMA Show 2019.

Forgestar decided to put former-pro wrestler Bill Goldberg’s drag Mopar on a customized set of Forgestar F14 Beadlock wheels in the Golden Bronze finish with matte black bolts.

“We were really looking to throw the beadlock-wheel design world a curve and make a statement with this new F14 Beadlock,” says Vince Wong, VP of product development. “We made a special flow-form 6061 aluminum wheel and beadlock ring that follows the classic F14 lines and puts the power down on the street and strip,”

The whole Forgestar line now forms one of the most comprehensive of strong-yet-affordable drag wheels on the market today. With that in mind, it decided to put former-pro wrestler Bill Goldberg’s drag Mopar on a customized set of Forgestar F14 Beadlock wheels in the Golden Bronze finish with matte black bolts. The look contrasts well with Goldberg’s metallic green Dodge Challenger Demon street car. Wong mentioned the move was very effective for Forgestar, because it garnered more attention than John Force’s pro drag car with a steady stream of muscle car nuts asking simply: “when,” and “how much?”

The answer to ‘when’ and ‘how much’ has not yet been released, but Forgestar will have stock this year.

The new Forgestar F14 Beadlock is a real, everyday drag wheel to run with drag radials on the street. The F14 14-spoke design hasn’t been compromised here as the beadlock ring lines up to complete the spoke pattern in a striking design. Unlike your same old ‘beadlock look’ and boring design. Best of all, parent company Weld Racing has been manufacturing this tech forever at top-level drag racing competition in cars pushing horsepower measured in the 1000s, so the R&D insights Forgestar had access to resulted in nothing short of perfection in this new wheel mission.

“You don’t realize how much you need a beadlock on a high-horsepower muscle car or drag car until you test it,” – Vince Wong, VP Product Development

“You don’t realize how much you need a beadlock on a high-horsepower muscle car or drag car until you test it,” says Wong. “A simple chalk mark on non-beadlock wheels with lower tire pressures will show you just how much movement the tire has around the wheel. With the Forgestar F14 Beadlock, there is none. Just think about how much torque you are losing when launching without a beadlock . . . it can mean all the difference at the traps.”

Forgestar ramped up its SEMA efforts by having a party and product demo out at Speed Vegas too. The exotic car rental track played host to all sorts of Forgestar wheel designs in every possible color combo and custom options, also. Just a taste of how Forgestar is reinventing how a big-horsepower drag car keeps a big street slick in place on the streets, or hooks to get that hole-shot at the drag strip on a VHT-soaked surface.
