SEMA 2022: Speedway Motors Debuts Chevy LS Mock-Up Block

LS swap the world! That’s the mantra heard over and over since GM dropped its new age V8 in 1997.  Since then, literally, thousands of cars, boats, trucks, and RVs have had the transplant. One of the trickiest aspects of an LS swap is fitting the new mill to its new home.

Plumbing the steering, exhaust, cooling, oil pan, and intake can be tricky and a mistake can lead to major headaches and a slowdown of your build. Speedway Motors has a cure for all that with their new metal mock-up block that diverts the major pitfalls of an LS swap.

Available in both short- and long-block configurations, it also sends flimsy styrofoam versions to the recycle bin of history. Its stout construction enables a much longer lifespan, a great benefit for engine shops or restoration facilities. Check out all the new features of Speedway’s new mock-up block.

LS Mock-Up Block

  • Compatible with all LS engine bolt-ons such as intake manifolds, headers, oil pan, timing cover, water pump, and accessory brackets which makes positioning or fabricating engine mounts a breeze
  • Weighing in at 18 pounds for the short block or 35 pounds for the long block, this LS mock-up engine can be lifted in and out of the vehicle by one person without the need for an engine hoist
  • Replicates all Gen 3 and Gen 4 LS block sizes for a test fit of LS1, LS2, LS3, LS6, LS7, LSA, and Vortec truck engines 4.8L, 5.3L, 6.0L and 6.2L
  • Heavy-duty, 12 gauge steel construction, is designed to last unlike the LS foam block which often suffers damage from thread inserts pulling out of the foam core
  • Long-block version comes with bolt-on fabricated steel mock-up heads
  • Short-block version accepts all factory and aftermarket LS heads

If all this sounds good, the block is available now. Go here for more information.
