$10K Drag Shootout 2: The Competition Continues On!

The second season of the Horsepower Wars $10K Drag Shootout was filled with plenty of drama and surprises yet the biggest drama didn’t occur until the vehicles were completed. Three of the vehicles were loaded on a car hauler and were off to Georgia where they were going to the final race, however, a freak fire sparked and two of the vehicles were badly damaged as a result.

The teams will be returning to the Horsepower Wars build center to repair their respective cars and will be racing at Lights Out 11 in February. With this in mind, Horsepower Wars will be airing two additional episodes in early 2020 which will showcase the teams’ progress with repairing their vehicles, followed by the series finale race where one team takes home $10,000.

Last we saw, all of the teams were making successful pulls on the dynamometer with exception to Team Enemies Everywhere. Their Camaro turned over without a problem, however, the transmission continued to cause failure. The Camaro was relatively undamaged by the fire (just some cosmetic fixes which were done in a few hours) and they are optimistic about repairing the transmission at the track.

The focus of “Episode 7: Rise from the Ashes,” debuting 2/11, will be on Team Bigun’s Grenada wagon and the Dream Team’s Mustang rebuild. The Ford Granada wagon’s front end got the brunt of the fire damaging the engine bay and electrical components, but they’re confident they can roll with the hits. COMP Cams Dream Team’s SN95 Mustang was fully engulfed at the height of the fire, unfortunately leaving not much more than the factory metal itself. Team leader Dave Henninger, driver Keith Berry, and builder Jesse Adams are returning to rebuild the machine and are highly motivated to make the car better than ever.

Team Midwest Mayhem’s Cutlass was thankfully on the front of the transport truck and therefore, was undamaged by the fire. They’ve been waiting patiently and we’ll see what the Junkyard Dog can do along with its competitors live on SpeedVideo on February 13-15 as well as in “Episode 8: The Race” on March 3rd.
