Today’s drag cars have come a long way from the brutal, uncouth beasts that once ruled the race track. No longer is a carburetor and fuel pump your only concern when it comes to modern muscle cars, and today’s fuel injection allows for a lot more horsepower on regular pump gas. When it comes to racing fuel, the results are even more impressive. But we cannot stress how important computing technology has become to modern race cars.

That is where AEM Electronics come in. Want proof of their technical prowess? Well the nitrous injected “Fridge” Camaro of RPM Transmissions just nabbed their best E.T. to date with AEM’s 4-Channel Wideband Controller.

RPM Transmission’s 2010 Camaro, known as “the Fridge”, is a nitrous injected (350 shot!) behemoth that recently broke into the single digits thanks to its total output of 750 horsepower. The RPM crew recently added to the Camaro two AEM 4-Channel Wideband Controllers and an AEM AQ1 Data Logger, and even with an “awful” 1.58 60-foot (RPM says they usually run in the 1.4 range) the Fridge ran its best-ever E.T., making it down the track in 9.55 seconds at 153 mph.

The Fridge will soon have AEM’s on-vehicle Dyno Shaft dynamometer. The Dyno Shaft allows for even greater tuning information, and with all this computing power on board, it seems only a matter of time before the Fridge hits the eights.
