Anyone that has attended the SEMA or PRI Show knows that first show feeling – it’s overwhelming. You can just walk up and converse with experts from prestigious companies and take as much time as you want to drool over the highest quality builds in the country.
The automotive industry’s premier race-oriented event, the PRI Show, is a racing enthusiast’s heaven. In its 32nd iteration this year, its said to be drawing in over 1,100 companies, exhibiting in over 3,300 booths. Attendees, including professional race teams, retail shops, distributors, engine builders, fabricators, dealers, mechanics, media, and more, will make their way to the Indiana Convention Center to check out the latest and greatest in their sport.
For 2019, the PRI Show’s organizers have partnered with legendary engine builder Sonny Leonard (from Sonny’s Racing Engines) along with multiple well-known manufacturers, to offer a raffle of a a high-performance engine during the show. Their 2017 sweepstakes raised $59,000, which was then was followed by $102,000 in 2018. For 2019, the Sonny’s 762 cubic-inch, 1,400-horsepower engine build is expected to bring in even more.
“It’s such an honor to have Sonny Leonard and his team generously volunteer their time to build another engine for the Sunnen Engine Charity Sweepstakes,” said Karin Davidson, PRI Trade Show Director. “Their engine last year raised a record amount for Victory Junction, and we’re looking forward to the excitement that this second, more powerful engine will generate.”
Fitted with Leonard’s fully in-house ported hemispherical cylinder heads, Sonny’s/Brodix 5.00-inch bore-space block with a 1.00-inch raised cam, special high-flow water jackets, a Bryant billet crank, CP-Carrillo billet-steel rods, and more, the naturally aspirated hemispherical-headed EFI build can be used for the street or the strip on standard premium 93 octane gasoline.
Tickets for the 31st annual Sunnen Engine Charity Sweepstakes can be purchased at victoryjunction.org/sunnen-sweepstakes. All proceeds go to Victory Junction, a camp founded by NASCAR’s Petty family for children with serious illnesses. The 2019 PRI Show is a trade-only event and will take place at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis, Indiana, December 12th through 14th.
