Last month, following some earlier experimentation with a V10 engine between the fenders of their popular Dodge Challenger Drag Pak, the folks at Mopar made things official with the announcement that they would indeed produce a Drag Pak for 2011 powered by an 8.4-liter (512-cid) V10 engine backed by a 2-speed automatic transmission. The car, which will be finished in either Stock Eliminator or Super Stock trim, comes with several racing enhancements, including competition race wheels, a solid rear axle, and an interior gauge package. It also comes complete with a competition fuel system with a fuel cell, and for that, they turned to the experts at Aeromotive to supply the goods.
Ford Racing’s Cobra Jet Mustang, outfitted with an Aeromotive fuel system, was a huge success in 2010, and Mopar chose to go the same route for their newest factory drag racing package, choosing Aeromotive to supply fuel to all 75 of the Drag Paks slated for delivery in early 2011.
“We’re honored that Mopar called us,” said Aeromotive President and Founder, Steve Matusek. “We’ve worked really hard understanding the complexities of fueling a high horsepower EFI motor, especially one that will see nothing but drag racing.”
The production V10 Challenger Drag Pak will feature an Eliminator Stealth Fuel Cell (Part # 18666) along with brand new fuel rails and fuel pressure regulator designed for the V10 engine. Aeromotive’s engineers were invited to Detroit during the development and planning of the new Drag Pak, and were there to install and plumb the fuel system on the very first prototype.
