If there is one downfall to having a car show in the middle of Summer, some might say it’s the heat. Well, the Holley LS-Fest is a “hot” event that eliminated the heated conditions by announcing that their 2016 event will be happening On September 9, 10, and 11. That might seem like a long time away, but you should probably make plans now, as Holley has announced that preregistration is now open for Holley LS Fest 2016.
This Seventh Annual all-LS celebration is definitely the place to be if you’re a fan of GM’s LS engine, and the cars they power. It doesn’t matter whether you have a race car, street rod, musclecar, truck, or late-model ride, if it is motivated by an LS or current-generation LT engine, there is a reason for you to be at the event.
We know that some of you reading this might not be interested in sitting in a lawn chair behind your car all day, and the Holley LS Fest makes sure there are things that will make you get behind the wheel of your car and participate. For instance, there will be several drag racing classes, an autocross, the 3S Challenge, Track X, Show-N-Shine, and more. The event will be held at Holley’s home town track, the picturesque Beech Bend Raceway Park. Spectator admission is $15.00 per day when tickets are purchased at the gate, or you can save $15 by purchasing a three-day ticket for just $30.
Event Highlights:
The 3S Challenge is a competition that combines speed, stopping and steering. Drivers will maneuver their cars side-by-side through a course layout that will feature a 180-degree turnaround, slalom, and a stop box.
Track X combines the best elements of autocross and a road course, into a single, timed event. Utilizing a series of gates and chicanes on a road course track, Track X creates a fun, high-speed event, showcasing driver skill and car balance without pushing the track to its limits. Track X is open to autocross and all-access participants, and runs will be timed. Participants can expect multiple runs with speeds nearing 90 miles per hour.
Lingenfelter Performance Engineering and the School of Automotive Machinists are sponsoring a brand new class called the COPO Battle at the Green. COPO Camaros will battle for a $10,000 prize! More details can be found here.

For you guys that like to wrench on things, Holley is also continuing their search for teams to compete in this year’s Engine Swap Challenge. Two teams will supply their own vehicles, and Holley will supply Holley and Hooker engine swap components, and GM will supply the LS engine. Both teams will race against each another and the clock to see which team can successfully remove the old running small-block Chevy and install the GM LS engine its place. Teams will get their engines running utilizing Holley EFI and Hooker swap components. The team to get their vehicle fully operational in the shortest amount of time wins.
