The Heidts Automotive Group, one of the most well-known manufacturers of suspension components for hot rods and muscle cars from the early model to the late model, has added Antioch, Illinois-based Alston Racing, thus adding a well-established and respected lineup of Alston Racing components to Heidts existing lineup of performance suspension systems and components. Heidts recently announced the completion of the acquisition after several months of discussions with the former ownership of Alston Racing.

“Adding Alston Racing to the Heidts Automotive family makes a great deal of sense for us when you look at the synergy between the two companies.” explains Wallace Leyhon, owner and president of Heidts Automotive. “This will allow us to provide an even more extensive product offering to our current Heidts dealers and customers. At the same time, the current Alston dealers and customers will be able to take advantage of certain economies of scale with regards to materials, and further leveraging Heidts renowned approach to quality engineering and manufacturing.”

Alston Racing has been a part of the racing community for more than 30 years, and in 1995, moved to their current, 10,000 square foot location in Antioch. Alston is regarded as one of just a handful of manufacturers that builds complete race cars, from which their parts business evolved.

Alston Racing will continue its mission to serve its existing customers and market, while the Alston and Heidts engineering, sales, and marketing teams work to integrate and optimize the product offerings and services. “Our focus will remain on providing superior components to the race car market with the added advantage of Heidts engineering and manufacturing capabilities,” notes Mike Ruth, who will remain as Alston Product Manager. “Combined, Heidts and Alston are going to have a very broad product line, covering everything from traditional hot rods, muscle cars, roll cages and purpose-built race cars for their dealers and customers.”

The acquisition of Alston Racing also compliments the alliance between Heidts Automotive and Kenny Brown Performance, which has been contributing engineering know-how through 25 years of late model Mustang and Camaro experience to both companies.
