ATI Challenger Wins Twice At The NMCA MIR Hemi Shootout

ATI’s
Chief Operating Officer, JC Beattie Jr., had a spectacular weekend at the wheel of his DragPak Dodge Challenger in the ShopHEMI.com Late Model Hemi Shootout, a special event contested in conjunction with the NMCA Muscle Car Nationals last weekend at the Maryland International Raceway.

For more on the race, check out the race coverage on sister site Street Legal TV.

Beattie’s naturally-aspirated, Stock Eliminator machine was quick enough to qualify second among a field of supercharged and turbocharged entires in the Nitrous Outlet Unlimited Hemi category; the quickest and fastest of the Hemi classes. Beattie put the ATI Performance Products Challenger through the traps in 9.92 seconds, trailing the blazing 9.69 set by top qualifier Rick Ellison.

As it should be, the final round came down to the two quickest cars in the field and while on paper, Ellison had the clear upper hand, they don’t run these races on paper. Ellison experienced trouble just off the starting line and could only watch Beattie sail to the class win with a 9.93. That victory put Beattie in the King of the Hill Shootout, which pitted the wins of each heads-up category against one another in a handicap start affair.

A first round defeat of 6.1 N/A Hemi winner Bill McFadden and a final round rout of 5.7 N/A Hemi champ Kent Irwin put the ATI Performance Products machine in the winners circle as the last man standing.

The ATI Drag Pak Challenger runs a Gary Stanton Racing built 370ci Hemi motor in legal NHRA Stocker trim, with Fuel Injection via AEM and Devin Pearce. The Challenger is equipped with an ATI 8″ Treemaster MRT converter and ATI built Ultra Lightweight Competition 904 Transmission using new Super F synthetic fluid. Of course there is a Super Damper on the front and the ATI custom Drag Pak Starter as well. JC and the Challenger get great support from Moser rear ends, Moroso, Racepak, Manley, Mark Williams drive shafts, Rinehart’s Performance, MPR Racecars, XS Batteries and Joe Gibbs Driven lubricants.
