Mere months after wrapping up a complete transformation of the chassis under his “Goliath” Chevy II, “Street Outlaws” star “Daddy Dave” Comstock is putting all the pieces back together after a high-speed crash at the South Motorsports Park (SGMP) in late June that left his sleek machine beaten and cruised.

Comstock was competing at the “Street Outlaws: No Prep Kings” (NPK) event at SGMP, racing alongside Bobby Ducote in the opening round of the race-your-way-in program when he lost control of the car in the shutdown area at the close of winning run and slammed hard into the wall. Comstock had scrubbed very little speed when the Chevy II hooked right after the 1/8-mile blocks, leading to a devastating hit with the immovable concrete barrier.

“Right after the 1/8-mile it got loose, turned sideways on me really quick and I couldn’t recover it and we blasted the wall,” Comstock says. “I’m not sure what happened, I probably just ran out of talent there at the 1/8-mile and it got away from me. But we’ll be back, I promise, and it’ll be faster than it was and better than it was.”

After loading the battered car and the high-end parts and pieces turned to debris into the trailer and trekking back home to Oklahoma, Comstock evaluated the chassis and determined it could be repaired, just not as swiftly as he would like it to be right in the middle of the “No Prep Kings” filming season. Comstock recently sat down to discuss the incident and his plan for getting “Goliath” back on track. In the interim, he’s returned to the NPK events during the month of July with his street-legal Chevy S-10 to compete in the Daily Driver class.
