What We Drive: The Cars Of The ACCEL Performance Group

For the men and women who work for the ACCEL Performance Group — which includes renowned brands Accel, Mr. Gasket, Hays, Lakewood, Quick Time, Mallory Ignition, and CataClean — their careers are more than just a job that provides a pay check, but rather an extension of their passions. For these individuals, they’re getting paid to do what they love, and it’s something that the company is very proud of.

You see, for these folks, their work doesn’t begin or end when they punch the clock, but rather, is an around-the-clock lifestyle. They live high performance cars, they build them, they show them, and they race them, and it’s no surprise their team is composed of race-winning drivers, award-winning enthusiasts, and industry icons.

The ACCEL Performance Group always takes the opportunity to recognize these folks and highlight their projects and accolades through their social media outlets, and Facebook in particular, even creating a section on their Facebook page for that very purpose.

Among the car guys and gals that call ACCEL home is NHRA Top Alcohol Funny Car ace and second-generation drag racer Todd Veney, who by day works as a Copywriter for the APG’s many brands. Veney began following in his father Ken Veney’s footsteps in 1995 and has been at it ever since, winning his first race in Columbus in 2006. Since that time, he’s assumed the driving duties of Jay Blake’s Permatex/Follow A Dream flopper, piloting it to Top 10 finishes nationally and an Eastern Regional championship in 2012.

Another member of the ACCEL team, Quick Time Project Manager Ross McCombs, has won a number of awards for his show-winning machines, also doubling as a race car driver when he’s not at the office. McCombs has competed behind the wheel of dirt oval stock cars for more than 20 years, notching more than 50 feature wins along the way. He’a also seen similar success in karting. But recently, he’s received award-winning praise for his custom builds, including a 1966 Mustang that’s been featured on television and in a pair of prominent magazines.

Check out the ACCEL Performance Group Facebook page and look for their team team to feature more of the machines that fulfill their passions outside of the work day, on and off the track.
