The box-stock Australian Ford Falcon XR8 is a sport-utility with a large emphasis on the “sport” – a utilitarian bed masks the factory-installed 248-horse 4.9L V8 engine and 17-inch factory wheels with Z-rated tires. This particular XR8, the only one of its kind in the USA, has been brought here and modified by the team at RDP Motorsport in Ohio and is now up for sale.Â
It features a 540-cube, 14.0:1 big-block Ford engine with a set of FRPP cylinder heads, a roller camshaft, Holley Dominator carburetor, MSD ignition, and a healthy Edelbrock nitrous system underhood – a far cry from the small-block originally installed between the framerails. The team didn’t stop there, however. The car’s got a trans-brake-equipped Powerglide and sheet-metal 9-inch Ford rearend to go with the Strange Engineering coilover shocks and brakes. All of the hard parts appear to be there, and the car still retains the complete leather interior, has a brand-new paintjob, and a complete rollcage. Although the car is not finished, it is being sold on ebay with all of the parts to complete the build.
If having a right-hand-drive, one-of-a-kind sport-ute is something you’re interested in, you owe it to yourself to check this one out. From what we could tell, it may take the hand of an experienced fabricator to finish up the project, but we suspect many of our readers could handle completing the build with their eyes closed. A cool project, for sure. As of right now there’s only one bid of $5 grand, and it hasn’t met the reserve, so we have to wonder what the seller is looking for out of the project. Unique builds like this always catch our eye – maybe it will catch yours too?
