The Goodguys Rod & Custom Association kicks off their 2016 car show season this weekend in sunny Scottsdale, Arizona. As with the previous shows held in Scottsdale, the Goodguys crew expects over 2,500 rods, customs, classics, musclecars and trucks up to 1972.
The traditional All American Sunday will still be welcoming all American made or powered vehicles from any year and the crowd pleasing Autocross event will kick off their competition at the WestWorld of Scottsdale facility. The Goodguys AutoCross allows members to test their street rod, truck or street machine, and their driving ability, through a course of turns and curves.
The timed event will ultimately wind up with one winner from each of the Street Rod, Truck and Street Machine classes. Seat belts and a valid driver’s license are required and you must be 18 years or older to drive the course.
All competitors need to do is bring a registered/street legal vehicle to the AutoCross tech area at the event, get it inspected, pay the entry fee and run the course. A special AutoCross for Kids benefitting the Austin Hatcher Foundation for Pediatric Cancer will be run on Friday from 8 A.M. to 5 P.M. and Sunday from 8 A.M. to 1 P.M.
There will also be a Nitro Thunderfest Dragster Exhibition, the famous Goodguys’ swap meet, 4-Sale Corral, Model & Pedal Car Show, and plenty of vendor & manufacturer exhibits. Live music for the event will feature sets from JG and the Modrockers, with their classic and current hit covers, and the Lounge Kats, a band that performs music of various styles – spanning many eras – recorded by legendary artists.
The featured car for the event is the Tuscon Street Rod Association.
