The Funny Car Chaos series has revolutionized nostalgia drag racing and it puts on one of the best shows you’ll see at a drag strip. Series founders Chris and Tera Graves have created a format that draws in a great mix of Funny Car racers from across the country to each event, which are the ultimate drag racing time machine that any fan can enjoy.

The Inaugural Funny Car Chaos Classic that was held at the Texas Motorplex last season featured a huge field of 68 floppers. Why were there so many Funny Cars at this particular event? The only rules in place were the NHRA safety requirements, so racers could run anything with a Funny Car body. There were NHRA “big show” Funny Cars, Nostalgia Funny Cars, Top Alcohol Funny Cars, and even some turbocharged Funny Cars making rips down the track. Fans were also treated to Fuel Altereds, Gassers, and other nostalgic racecars that raced in support of the big Funny Car Field.

This event lived up to its hype across the board with great racing and some record-breaking performances. Former NHRA Funny Car champion Del Worsham obliterated the Funny Car Chaos 1/8-mile record by uncorking a 3.196 pass at 275.57 MPH. Richard Hartman turned the Fuel Altered world on its head when he laid down a 4.920 at 304.53 run. That made Hartman the first person ever to run over 300 MPH in a Fuel Altered. Hartman’s record was then eclipsed on the speed side by Kebin Kinsley who went 304.59 MPH, becoming the fastest person behind the butterfly of a Fuel Altered.
