If you were at Memphis Motorsports Park in 1992 for the Fastest Streetcar Shootout, you saw a historic event that changed drag racing forever. That race laid the foundation for modern heads up street car racing that continues to be popular today. Brian and Jesse Havlik are bringing this nostalgic street car racing back with the Havliks FSC Shootout.
Brian and Jesse are co-owner of HotRods by Havlik, and one of the driving forces behind the Havliks FSC Shootout. Fast street cars aren’t a new thing for the Havlik crew, they’ve participated in numerous drag-and-drive events over the years. So, you can understand just how much those original Fastest Street Car Shootout-type events influenced them.
The goal for the Havliks FSC Shootout is to give the iconic cars that were a part of these street car events a place to race. This event has already locked in famous cars from the original Fastest Streetcar Shootout, along with cars that ran in the early days of the NMCA, NSCA, PSCA, and NMRA. You won’t find a single track-only car at this event, if you want to be a part of the show your ride must have a license plate and registration to compete.
Havliks FSC Shootout will have Nostalgia Pro Street, Unlimited, Outlaw 10.5, Super Street, FSC Exhibition, and Grudge classes all running. Tristate Raceway in Earlville, Iowa is the location where the event will be held. Registration will be open on August 9th and August 10th is race day. You can learn more about the event and see what cars are pre-registered right here on the Havliks FSC Shootout website.
