Typically, we don’t feature wildly-committed Pro Mod cars like this ’69 Dodge Charger R/T door slammer, here on Street Muscle, as it is not street legal, that is, unless we’re covering a NMCA event. Nonetheless, when we saw this wicked Mopar machine making a qualifying pass at Indy a couple of years ago, we thought, “Hey man, that’s pretty bad ass. We gotta have it as a ‘Hump Day Holeshot.” So, here you are!
Titled “Times Up!” this Dodge is a true, original ’69 R/T car. While the owner says that it wasn’t an original HEMI car, the numbers-verifying VIN and fender tag speak to the B-Body’s authenticity. It’s pretty dang impressive, but we know there’s quite a few purists out there screaming bloody murder at the transformation of an original R/T car into this gutted quarter-mile monster. To that, we would reply with, “There’s less of these than there are General Lee’s.”
Either way, no matter what side of the fence you’re sitting on, you’ll enjoy this 7-second pass at 173mph.
