For bracket racers, the IHRA Summit SuperSeries World Finals is the big one. The race where national champions compete for the world title. And in 2025, that championship hunt is getting a change of scenery.
The IHRA just announced that the event is moving to Alabama International Dragway in Steele, Alabama, after three years at Holly Springs Motorsports Park in Mississippi.
Now, this isn’t a knock on Holly Springs. IHRA President Rich Schaefer made it clear they’ve been great partners. “Holly Springs has been a great partner, and I’m sure it will continue to be,” Schaefer commented. The move keeps things fresh and, importantly, prevents the World Final from being held at a track with any Division Finals.
Alabama International Dragway, which boasts the tagline, “Where Records Fall”, is no stranger to big IHRA events. This place has history, going all the way back to its opening. It even hosted the IHRA Super Nationals back in the mid-90s, with legends like Scotty Cannon and Roy Hill taking home wins. The track’s got everything a racer could want: both 1/8-mile and 1/4-mile layouts, a huge 100-acre facility, plenty of paved pit space, and seating for 10,000 fans.
Beyond the track itself, the location is a big plus. “Alabama International is a fantastic location centrally positioned and, in the South, which gives us an advantage with the weather,” Schaefer pointed out. “Temperature isn’t a concern here, “Schaefer also added.
Here’s where it gets really interesting for some racers. If you happen to be qualified for both the IHRA and the WDRA World Finals, you’re in luck.
The WDRA Finals are happening just two hours south, at Montgomery International Dragway, the week after the IHRA event. “Having the WDRA Finals so close is a huge advantage,” Schaefer said.”A racer can compete for an IHRA World Championship…then either stay in Alabama or head home before returning for the WDRA Finals.” Talk about a potential double-header.
Don’t miss out on the chance to experience the thrill of the IHRA Summit SuperSeries World Finals firsthand. Head to Alabama International Dragway on October 16-18, 2025, for high-octane action, incredible cars, and a piece of racing history.
