Currently under construction at JCR Chassisworks down in Florida is this gorgeous  fourth generation 2006 Pontiac GTO, which is soon to house a complete roll cage within, fabricated mini tubs, and a sheet metal trunk floor, transforming it from a street car to a legitimate racing machine. Also gone is the less-than-desirable factory Independent Rear Suspension – undesired for drag racing purpose anyway – soon to be replaced with a fabricated 9-inch rear housing with a torque arm and coilover rear suspension system. Up front, this Goat will feature a tubular chromoly K-member, lower control arms, and a set of coilovers.

The earlier generations of the GTO from 1964 to 1974 were a hit with the hot rodding and drag racing crowd, thanks largely to their supremely muscle appearance and large displacement small block and big block engine options. The fourth generation GTO, which was based on the Australian Holden Monaro and shared virtually nothing with the original GTO, has also been popular in the sport in everything from Pro Stock to grass roots builds such as these.

Along with the K-member and other lightweight front suspension components seen on this car, JCR is also working on a deal to bring an exclusive brake kit for the GTO to the market. This is without a doubt one of the sharpest and most interesting GTO builds we’ve seen to date, and one we’ll certainly be following along with and passing along some updates from.
