On December 10th, NHRA announced that Moser Engineering has extended its sponsorship of the NHRA Moser Enginering Sportsman Shootout through the 2016 racing season. In addition, the program has expanded to include the NHRA’s Southeast Division in 2014.
“We owe a big part of our success to the sportsman racers and with so many of them asking for this unique program it shows me it is time to expand it,” said Rob Moser, Moser Engineering. “So, it is with a sense of pride that we can announce the expansion of the Sportsman Shootout into Division 2 for 2014. This program is just another way for us to recognize all of those that support Moser Engineering and it is our way of saying thank you.”
The 2013 South Central Division NHRA Moser Shootout takes place at the 2014 JEGS Cajun SPORTSnationals in March, the North Central NHRA Moser Shootout will take place at the JEGS Northern SPORTSnationals in September, and the Inaugural Southeast Division NHRA Moser Sportsman Shootout will take place at the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event that caps off the season at Silver Dollar raceway in Reynolds, Georgia in October.
The program was introduced in 2012 in the NHRA’s North Central and South Central divisions in seven different classes. Racers in Super Stock, Stock, Super Gas, Super Comp, Super Street, Top Sportsman, and Top Dragster all earn a chance to qualify for the Moser Shootout. The Shootout takes two racers from each of the seven classes that qualify through a season-long points program, and there are two additional wild card entries chosen from a drawing of online registrations on Moser’s website.
The Shootout fields are made up of 16 cars and offers a combined posted payout of $45,000 for 2014. In order to be eligible and earn points at LODRS events, racers must run the NHRA Moser Engineering Sportsman Shootout program decals.
