For racers running Chrysler/Mopar 904 or 727 Torqueflite transmissions, ATI Performance Products has just introduced a game-changer: the industry’s first 8-inch and 9-inch bolt-together Treemaster torque converters.
Traditionally, changing a torque converter’s stall speed, overhauling it after a transmission failure, or even just cleaning it thoroughly meant shipping it back to the manufacturer. This process is time-consuming and expensive, often putting a race program on hold. ATI’s bolt-together design eliminates that hassle, allowing racers to service and adjust their converters themselves, either at home or right at the track.
Think about it, got a blown transmission that filled your converter with metal? No problem, clean it out yourself. Want to try a different stator for different track conditions? Swap it out in minutes. ATI offers a bunch of different stator options, so you can really dial in your setup.
This isn’t just some flimsy design, either. The front cover is billet aluminum, and inside, you’ve still got ATI’s proven furnace-brazed, American-made pump and turbines and double O-ring seals. This new design shed some weight, up to 4.5 lbs, with the 9″ version. The converter can be purchased with a cast, or billet version sprag or diode. And if you’re already running an ATI converter, you’re not left out. They’re offering a conversion service to upgrade your existing unit to the new bolt-together design.
ATI’s new bolt-together converters put the power back in the hands of the racer, letting you fine-tune your drivetrain on your schedule, in your own shop, or even between rounds at the track. You can learn more about this new ATI converter right here on ATI’s website.
