Phoenix Race Tires, a division of Coker Tire Company is devoted to providing great tires for drag racers, and does so with a wide range of bias ply and radial slicks geared toward the sportsman drag racer. A variety of sizes and compounds are available to fit many applications from weekend warriors in stock suspension street cars to Super Stock cars and dragsters. Along with its tried and true designs, Phoenix is moving forward by introducing three new bias ply drag racing slicks that fit within the “small tire” racing segment, including no prep racing and small tire grudge racing.
10.5/28.0-15 – You’ll find that this size is most commonly used on stock suspension “small tire” drag racing, as it fits most applications without major modification to the body or chassis. The standard 10.5/28.0-15 tire offers racers an excellent all-around compound for a long-lasting tire that hooks hard.
10.5/28.0-15S – This new Phoenix tire continues to target the 10.5-inch tire market. It is being developed with the latest drag tire technology with a (S) stiff-sidewall to move the car forward faster with less tire wrap-up and to achieve faster reaction times. This is the perfect choice for racers running on a PRO tree start and it’s also the preferred choice for high horsepower applications. The tires are proven performers on prepped and no prep surfaces.
10.5/28.0-15WS – Similar to the other new 10.5/28.0-15 slicks, this variation includes (W) extra wide tread and (S) Stiff sidewall to move the car forward faster with less tire wrap-up and to achieve faster reaction times. Some grudge racers and no prep classes allow the W tire, allowing another inch of contact patch on the racing surface for the ultimate bite.
