To get the octane levels needed to run a high-performance engine, racers used to be locked into using race gas or aviation fuel almost exclusively with their carbureted engines, but not anymore. With the rise in popularity and availability of E-85 fuel, manufacturers took notice and have made E-85 compatible versions of their carburetors. Quick Fuel Technology, in particular, has a wide range of carburetors that run on the magical E-85 fuel from the factory.
Quick Fuel offers these carburetors in sizes from 750 through 1050 CFM. You can also get blow-through units for turbo and supercharged applications. For high-performance street cars that see track duty, Quick Fuel has carburetors that come with electric chokes and special throttle linkages.
The E-85 carburetors have unique green-anodized metering blocks to indicate the special fuel they can run on. To make sure the carburetors can use the E-85 problem-free, Quick Fuel added special hardware and gaskets to deal with the harsh, caustic nature of the fuel. These carburetors come set up from the factory to address the need of extra fuel flow that comes with running E-85.
Quick Fuel also offers a conversion kit that allows anybody to convert their 4500-style carb to run on E-85. These kits come complete with special floats, boosters, and all the other hardware needed for the conversion. Included with the kits are all of the special E-85 gaskets that come with the standard Quick Fuel E-85 carburetor, as well.
