A few short weeks ago, Summit Motorsports Park was hosting an NHRA national event with nitro-powered vehicles running well over 300 MPH, my how things can change quickly. This past week, Summit Motorsports Park was transformed into a pulling paradise for the Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League’s Inaugural World Series of Pulling event.
Bill Bader Jr. and his team at Summit Motorsports Park don’t mess around when it comes to welcoming people into their house. America’s racetrack had never been used for anything other than drag racing, but Bader saw a unique opportunity to use the facility as a stage to host different events.
“We know that tractor- and truck-pulling is very popular in this part of Ohio, and as soon as we decided to hold this event, we were dedicated to diving in and making it outstanding for everyone involved,” said Bill Bader Jr., president of Summit Motorsports Park. “In addition to appealing to the pullers, our goal was to appeal to people who follow pulling, as well as people who have never been to a pulling event in their life, and we think we did that.”
It took only three days and a lot of dirt to change the surface of the track over from drag racing to tractor pulling mode. The Summit Motorsports Park team and the crew from the Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League worked hand-in-hand to give the pullers the best surface possible.
“Tremendous effort was required to prepare since we had never held an event like this at Summit Motorsports Park, but we were eager to take it on because we have a big, beautiful facility that can comfortably welcome a lot of people, and we have a stage that can be used for more than drag racing,” Bader said.
The Inaugural World Series of Pulling fell right into the meat of Summit Motorsports Park’s busy schedule and has introduced a slew of new motorsports fans to the facility. There’s a good chance these new fans of Summit Motorsports Park will return for one of the numerous events still on the track’s calendar.
“We have had wonderful feedback from pullers as well as people who attended the event, and we are very pleased by that. We were happy to welcome them into our home, especially those who had never been,” Bader states.
