K.I.T.T. (Kursay Industries Two Thousand) Pontiac Firebird is coming together quite nicely and will be ready for Outlaw Drag Radial competition in 2011. Jim Powski Racecraft has finished up on the 25.2 Chassis and has been working on all the “little stuff” that we all know takes up a lot of time when you do it right. Engine guru Chris Uratchko is putting the final touches on the 2000+ horsepower 420ci LSX Engine with a gear driven F3R 131mm Procharger.
James will be heading out to Michigan in a few weeks to pick up the car and bring it back to New Jersey where it will be completely disassembled and sent to Shawn Zubler’s shop to have the doors hung. Then it’s off to the Hearder Brothers for Paint and Body work. They are located in Ivyland, Pennsylvania and have done all the paint and body work on Zubler’s Beautiful Outlaw 10.5 Trans Am. Then it’s off to Long Island, New York to have the car wired. James is getting very excited about getting it finished and getting back in the driver’s seat. It has been almost five years since he last competed with his wagon. He has been working as many hours as he can to finance this project.
James Kursay has been around the Drag Radial Scene since the beginning. Helping his friend Tom with his 66 Nova in the B.F.Goodrich Traction Advantage Class and racing his infamous Malibu Wagon in NSCA’s EFI class and many different Drag Radial Events. He participated in the First Outlaw Drag Radial Shootout at Thompson Dragway (a.k.a. Big Daddy’s Race) in 2003, the NSCA D/R class, NMCA’s Drag Radial Class held at the Memphis finals, the World Street Nationals in Orlando, The Shakedown at E-town, Maryland Street Racers Association, and some local events.
It has been a long journey with the Firebird and it is finally nearing completion. It’s going to be a long winter for Kursay getting everything finished up for the spring time debut of this east coast monster. James plans on running in the Ultimate Outlaws Series, the Cecil County Street Car Shootout, the Shakedown at E-Town and the Yellowbullet Nationals. He already has a match race lined up with his good friend Eric Kenward’s Malibu Wagon.
