Video: Beefcake Resets ET and MPH Record For 2015 Mustang GT

For as long as your editor has known Terry “Beefcake” Reeves, he’s always been the guy to nail down records. When we first met nearly 15 years ago, Beefcake has the fastest “Daily Driven” 1999 Cobra in the USA. He’s held numerous titles, ET and MPH records, since then.

For 2015 Beefcake is once again out there making waves. While he waits for his 2011 Mustang GT to break out of “chassis jail” so he can start making chasing points in competition again, Beefcake has been working on his 2015 Mustang GT development car.

Each time there’s a major update to the Mustang, Beefcake and his performance outfit, Team Beefcake Racing, purchases a new car to develop and test parts on. This year’s car is no different, and currently features a slew of modifications. The engine from intake down to the oil pan remains stock internally.

Breathed heavily upon by a Vortech JT-trim supercharger, with billet impeller, this car is using a supercharger very similar, if not identical to the one Beefcake uses in competition. The power capability and ET are at testament to the development Vortech has put into this kit.

The engine exhales through a full Stainless Works exhaust system, including long tube headers. The transmission has been updated with new clutches from Exedy and a Circle D 3c torque converter.

Out back the car is still running 3.55 gears, but there’s now a DSS driveshaft, as well as DSS 1,400 hp half-shafts to handle the power. Fuel comes from a Fore Fuel System with Team Beefcake Racing Billet Rails. Injector Dynamics 1300cc Injectors replace the stockers and feed E85 fuel to the engine.

The rear suspension for the IRS has been updated using BMR polyurethane and Delrin bushings. There’s also Race Star 17×7 front and 17×9.5 rear 94 Series Wheels with 28x10x17 Hoosier slicks and 215/65/15 street tires on the front. The car weighs 4100lbs with driver.

Beefcake is quick to attribute much of this car’s success to the remote tuning from Lund Racing. “The tune is the single most important part of the equation.  The 2015 cars are way more involved to tune than the previous coyote engines.  That’s why you don’t see a plethora of 2015 cars running great numbers right now.  Lund racing really has a good handle, and we learn more every time we log the car for them.  The car is 100% remote tuned.  Lund has never seen a 2015 kit in person as this was the first kit they sent out from Vortech and Lund was still able to do some impressive things with the car from halfway across the country.   Lund was at the track and was able to review logs in person on Friday,  but they are the same logs we have been exchanging back via email since putting the supercharger on.”

“We started off the trailer at a 10.05.  And with tweaking the tune via datalogging, we were able to drop that to the 9.7 range.  With better traction and some more logging,  the goal is that 8 second pass on the stock engine”

Beefcake looks to have the power to back up those goals, he also told us, “Boost on the first 9.74 run was about 16psi.  We turned it up to 18-19 for the last run,  but the car blew the tires off, and I had to get out of the throttle to keep it off the rev limiter.  I got back in it, and was still able to duplicate the previous run. “

Of course Finish Line Performance performed all the labor, and the car will undoubtedly continue to be refined in the months to come. Lund Racing was there to record the run and posted it in the video above.

Could Beefcake have the first 2015 Mustang in the 8s? It looks like he already has plans in the works, we’ll find out soon enough if he can make that happen.
