Video: Shane Fisher Breaks X275 Elapsed Time Record…Again

shane2Back in March, we showed you Shane and Russell Fisher’s Racecraft-built X275 car that was set to debut, and what a debut he’s had during the course of the 2013 season.

Shane has been on a tear all season long, most recently at North Star Dragway’s EX275 race in Denton, Texas, where he lit the clocks in the third qualifying round to a brand-new X275 record of 4.525 at 160.66 MPH, in the process resetting his own class record.

Fisher went on to run through the field until the third round of eliminations, where a broken transmission took him out of contention – a rare parts failure for the team.

This car employs every single trick in the Racecraft book, like ceramic wheel bearings and lightweight driveline parts to run the number, but perhaps the most important part of the program is the guy tapping on the keys, none other than legendary Drag Radial racer John Kolivas.

The credit for driving the car is all on Shane, though.

As Kolivas tells us, “At Duck’s race, we raced against 70-something cars, qualified number one, set the record, won the race, then did the same thing at Holly Springs – re-set the record, qualified number one, won the class against against 60-something cars.”

“He’s a great driver, he reminds me so much of myself ten years ago. He doesn’t miss the tree, he doesn’t get excited, he just goes up there and mows everyone down. I have so much fun tuning for him and working with him. To see a young guy like that who’s never raced before go out there and whip up on everyone – he has no clue of the significance of what he’s done this year.”

You can’t get much more of an endorsement than one coming from a racing legend, and Shane Fisher has that and more. One can only wonder what’s in store for this team next year.
