If there is one thing all enthusiasts can agree on, it’s we all like to get stuff for as little money as possible. It’s in our nature. The hobby is expensive, and we need to save money wherever we can. That’s why I thought all of you might be interested in winning this 1967 Nova that is being built by HotRods by Havliks.

Jesse Havlik isn’t building this car for anyone in particular. In fact, he could be building it for you. Anyone who registers for the Summit Midwest Drags event, taking place on June 1 through 5, 2020, is eligible to be the new owner. Details and complete rules can be found at the Summit Midwest Drags website. Drivers are entered into a drawing at the end of the week, provided they and their cars survive the week-long journey, and average 10.5-second quarter-mile e.t. or faster at every track.

While the pictures show the car incomplete, this car will be finished and on display at SEMA in a few days. You can check it out at the Trim Parts booth (number 23475). It will also be appearing at PRI, Detroit AutoRama 2020, the Summit Racing Store in Norwalk, and Goodguys shows in Scottsdale, North Carolina, and Nashville, before being given away.

Under the hood is 555ci big-block built by Beck Racing Engines. Completing the mill, you’ll find parts like Holley EFI and digital dash, a one-off cooling system from Delta PAG to keep it cool. Behind that is a Rossler Turbo 400 with trans brake and Gearvendor under/overdrive, and finished the drivetrain is a Moser 9-inch rear with 35-spline axles and 4.11 gears.

The suspension is comprised of a Chris Alston’s Chassisworks ladder bars and coilovers, subframe connectors, and Nova front clip. Stopping power provided by Wilwood.

The interior is near as stock as stock can get. All interior components are provided by PUI, Trim Parts, Flatline Barriers, and GM Classics. AED Metal Products and Supply provided the Chromoly tubing to custom bend and install the rollcage. HotRods by Havliks made the cage as obscure as possible to keep the stock appearance, make room for the back seat and meet all NHRA requirements.

HotRods by Havliks did modify the body so the 295 aspect ratio rear tires could fit under the car. It was accomplished by moving the stock frame rails inward while keeping the stock wheel tub look in the trunk. From underneath, the car looks stock with the necessary bracing to make the car handle whatever horsepower is thrown at it.
