It is one of the most anticipated races of the year as the ADRL rolls into their first race of the 2010 racing season. The opener will be held in Baytown at Houston Raceway Park. New teams have been forming, older cars updated, and racers from other series’ have been converting their car over to ADRL spec. Dragzine coverage from Houston will start Thursday with a preview to some of the cars that have shown up. Next will be Friday and Saturday’s full racing action. Stay tuned for updates all weekend.

Bubba Stanton's gorgeous orange Garret Race Cars Camaro shined in the Baytown pits this afternoon. This is one ride that just looks fast sitting still

Thomas "Slick" Meyers unveiled his new 70 Duster Pro Nitrous entry today. The Andy McCoy Race Cars built piece has yet to turn a tire on the track. Meyers is anxious to get it fired up and light them up. It's different seeing a silver car in this pit instead of red but it is one looker.

Motivation for the Meyers Duster will come from last years Reher & Morrison 800 cubic inch power plant. The rear quarter panel has 854 painted on it hinting at things to possibly come.

Magnolia Texas regular, Don Wootton, is more than ready for the full on 2010 campaign. Wootton drives the only injected nitro burning Pro Extreme entry to date in the series and made significant gains last season. Joe Monden is still onboard tuning the fire breather and is expecting to be competitive this year. The car is now sporting a new look with a dark green carbon fiber wrap that reminds us of the old Lotus formula one green.

Joshua Hernandez is on the grounds with the Lipar Racing Rig. Noticabley absent is the familiar National Guard livery. The same 57 Chevy from last is loaded sporting no colors but just the base gel-coate according to the crew. A late arrival precluded the car from being unloaded and prepped. Regardless this event would not be the same without the Conroe Texas based team.

Hugh Scott towed in from Redbay, Alabama with new pipe in the form of this wild Pro Extreme machine. The Perry Herring built car sports a 526 cubic inch blown power plant and is another machine that has yet to turn a wheel on the track.

Legendary door car racer Pat Musi made the haul to Texas from Carteret, NJ and will compete in the pro Nitrous category. Popeye's Dodge Stratus is sporting a new Pat Musi/ Frank Brandao Curacao paint scheme. WIth a perfect weather forecast for Friday it will be exciting to see what this veteran will do.
