- Thomas “Slick” Meyers unveiled his new 70 Duster Pro Nitrous entry today. The Andy McCoy Race Cars built piece has yet to turn a tire on the track. Meyers is anxious to get it fired up and light them up. It’s different seeing a silver car in this pit instead of red but it is one looker.

The car is now sporting a new look with a dark green carbon fiber wrap that reminds us of the old Lotus formula one green.
- Joshua Hernandez is on the grounds with the Lipar Racing Rig. Noticabley absent is the familiar National Guard livery. The same 57 Chevy from last is loaded sporting no colors but just the base gel-coate according to the crew. A late arrival precluded the car from being unloaded and prepped. Regardless this event would not be the same without the Conroe Texas based team.

- Jason Scruggs sits number 4 after 2 sessions and lit it up good on run number 2. The burst panel blew out and the ensuing fire was the result of the blower belt taking out a fuel and oil line.
- Pro Nitrous has the potential to also have a new national speed record set. Both Burton Axier and Jim Halsey can accomplish the feet with backup runs. Axier is in with a 3.830 @ 197.91mph and Halsey can claim the fastest speed ever for the class with a 3.883 @ 198.99. Tricky Rickie Smith, Pictured, is in at number 6 with a 3.952 @191.65.

Moyer became the third member of the Mickey Thompson Tires 3 second club running a 3.968 @ 195.22. Spiro Pappas is still on point from his first run of the day. Pappas couldn’t get hooked up in the 2 succeeding attempts. There are only 14 entries in the event and number 14 is held by local racer Wayne Long at 7.261 @ 121.20mph.
- The run of the day in Pro Extreme has to belong to Houston, Texas racer Chris Smith in his 63 split window Vette. The only run he made all day was the in third and final session and was the first utilizing a screw blower. Smith layed down a nice and smooth 4.036 @ 168.47mph. - Well, the rains arrived and has resulted in the postponement of the ADRL Dragpalooza VI event at Houston Raceway Park in Baytown, Texas. A cold front has come thru and based on the forecast for the day and with 3/4 of the Pro Extreme field yet to make their last qualifying run the decision was made to reschedule the event and finish it July 23 and 24 in Baytown. There will also be a second complete points and pay event conducted, on Saturday, in conjunction with the completion of the original Dragpalooza VI Friday. Power issues earlier in the day delayed the final Pro Extreme final qualifying session long enough for the rain cut it short.
- Jim Halsey currently holds a new world record for speed in the Pro Nitrous when his 197.45mph was close enough to back up his 198.99. The car had the front wheels up almost the whole length of the 1/8 mile. Pat Stoken made a statement with a fine 3.873 @ 198.82.

- A special drivers meeting was called under the tower at Houston Raceway Park after the rain kept falling with a dim forecast for the rest of the weekend. ADRL President and CEO, Kenny Nowling, announced that he had worked out an agreement shortly before with Houston Raceway Park General manager Seth Angel to reschedule and finish the UTI Dragpalooza event and include another full paid points event to fill the 10th event void left with the departure of the Memphis race. The rescheduled date is July 23 & 24 and wi;; be set up just as the Speedtech Battle for the Belts is run. The eliminations from the UTI Dragpalooza event will count as qualifying runs for the new points paying event that will conclude on Saturday. Kenny stated “It just made the most sense and gives our racers the incentive to want to come back and compete”. Only one pair of Pro Extreme cars ran in their final qualifying session so that session will be completed first on the 23rd. Then the eliminations will begin. Credit to Kenny Nowling and Seth Angel for coming up with an innovative to satisfy not only the racers but sponsors and fans. Tickets from this weekends event will be honored at the July event and those that paid for parking this Saturday can use their parking pass for either Friday or Saturday of the July event. Additional tickets will be available for the new date and they will as usual, in ADRL style, be free. Until July 23 & 24, 2010 here is how we stand.
