Bradenton Outlaw Drag Racing Championship 2010 Same Day Coverage

Good morning from Bradenton for day 2 of the ORDC. We are getting ready to load up for round one qualifying this morning starting off with 7.50 index.  Im running a bit behind and will have an update after this round.

Chad Opaleski checks the fuel pressure on his Drag Radial 66 Chevelle this morning.

Nitrous Mike is manning the grill this weekend and that mean guaranteed good eats. Mike knows cooking.

Qualifying Results

Real Street

Ronnie Wilson was one of the first pair down and set low Et for the round this morning in Real Street with a 5.20 @ 134. Aaron Gramer was took the second spot with a 5.30 @ 134. Randy Shearin launched hard and carried the wheels out past the 60' to a new personal best 5.51 @ 142 which was good for sixth position.

Outlaw 632

Mike Schmidt led first round quakifying with a 4.72 @ 150 with his 02 Camaro in Outlaw 632. Mike is often found at the top of the ladder in class with a Nelson competition 632 ci BBC. Lake Wales racer Brett Newell sits second with a 4.85 @ 155 and Jimmy Hall sits third of twelve so far.

Drag Radial

Mel Nelson leads the Drag Radial field with a 4.70 @169 which has been combined so the nitrous and boosted cars with run together. Scott Husted has been consistant so far running another 4.84 @ 161 for second qualifier.

This is Will Stevenson's first time out since several upgrades at DNRC including a 25.3 Chassis and rear housing. They had trans trouble and were not able to run Friday. His first pass was a 5.01 @ 153, good enough for 4th spot.

Outlaw 10.5

Tim Lynch is normally the man to beat but it's local racer Rob Well on top so for in OL10.5 with a 4.27 @ 183 in the first session, Lynch sits in second with a 4.30 @ 182, followed by Mark Ingle, Bill Futch and Troy Blake

Automatic Pro Mod

Tony Christian's 4.02 sits on top of the Auto Pro Mod field, Chris Mendola sits in second with a 4.33 @ 165 in his blown Camaro. Jon Adams, Kenny Burgess and Sean Carpenter round out the top five.

Open Outlaw

Melissa Hutson ran the only 3 second pass in the first session taking the number one position with a 3.96 @ 186, Tom Wirth managed a 4.05 for second.

Round Two Qualifying

Final Qualifying Results

Ronnie Wilson showed them hows it's done today by leading the Real Street field with a 5.20 early this morning. Aaron Gramer came back in the third round to bump Rick Losee back to third by. 003 running a 5.266 in the final session. Troy Fredrickson has vastly improved his performance this weekend running a 5.32, good enough for 4th on the ladder.

mel Nelson got quicker every pass today and dropped to a 4.62 @ 170 for number one qualifier. Husted also kept at it finally running a 4.820 to hold on to second ahead of Kenny Markwich's 4.840. Chad opaleski leads the nitrous folks with a 4.95 @ 150 and sits in 4th.

Troy Pirez struggled early with wheelstands and traction, finally getting a decent run in the final session, his 5.03 @ 147 was good for seventh and he will face Mike Freeman in round one.

Rodney Cambell is giving Schmidt a run for his money in OL 632 holding down second position since round two with a 4.727, Felix Garcia sits on the bump driving the White 87 Monte Carlo

Tony Christian and Mike Hill are the top two by a good margin over the rest of the Auto Pro Mod class with a 4.02 and 4.03 respectively. Jake Carlton got bumped to third with his .19.

Halvor Hansen made it into the field on his last attempt today and jumping all the way to 4th spot.

Rob Wells shocked some folks today by taking the number one spot in Outlaw 10.5 over Tim Lynch with a 4.27 in the first session. Jake Carlton stepped it up in the final session to a 4.42 putting him in fifth.

Frank Meshaw is fresh off his 2010 NMCA !0.5 championship and qualified tenth in the thirteen car field. Here he put too much power to it in the third session for a nice smoke show.

Eddie Careccia knocked it out of the park with a 4.83 @ 195 in the final session taking over the top spot from Melissa Hutson who also improved to a 4.89 @ 188. Tom Wirth also landed a 3.98 @ 183 in his last attempt.
