Since Lights Out V at South Georgia Motorsports Park in February, the small-tire racing world has been gearing up for the season encore in the fall at Duck X Productions’ fifth running of No Mercy: Cleared For Takeoff. Records were broken in the spring, but have since been shattered as the premier radial teams in the country have dipped into the 4.0’s, setting the stage for what could be a barn-burner of an event this week in Georgia! As we have each and every year, Dragzine will be on hand bringing you all the news, results, and photos from the seasons’ biggest radial tire race, so keep it right here all weekend long.
A big thanks to the presenting sponsor of our same day race coverage, Comp Cams, and the entire Comp Performance Group!

Dean Marinas set low ET for X275 class cars yesterday with a 4.55 for the BES Powered, Racecraft Inc. Mustang. He was the number one qualifier at the rain shortened Yellow Bullet Nationals earlier this month. He should be a top contender this weekend.

Rob Valden and the Alepao Racing crew put up a 4.17 today after some short test hits. They just installed a full floater rear and were making sure everything was ok. They will be looking for the 4.0’s this weekend along with several other racers. Car owner Andrew Aleppa is securing the window net prior to the run.

Chris Tuten is running Outlaw Drag Radial again here at No Mercy V and ran a 4.31 earlier today. He is running the same combo with a new converter from Cameron at Torque Converter Specialties. He made a second pass later this afternoon spinning the tires in the lights which led to him spinning out. Luckily he was able to keep the car off the wall but will have some other repairs to take care of before coming back out. he ran a 4.28 on the pass, a new best ET.

Martin Shows has a new Fulton 738 purchased from Barry Mitchell. So far Alex has been a 4.48, a 4.47 and a 4.45 testing yesterday. So far so good for the father and son team. Also on board is Pressurized Solutions who did the new Zoomie style headers, Induction Solutions, Team Z Motorsports, Pro Lite Batteries and Mark Menscer shocks and struts. From left to right, Dusty Right, Alex Shows, Josh Sullivan, Wesley Ashley and Josh Thorton. Alex’s father Martin is not shown.
All eyes will be focused on several cars as they come to the line this weekend including Stevie Fast Jackson and Jamie Hancock. Neither got down in todays test session.

South Florida racer Ronnie Wilson launched into a wheelie on his first run today, then again on his second attempt however the car got crooked and brushed the right side wall after coming down out of the groove.

Dylan Voss is one of several racers running Outlaw 632 this weekend. Voss does their own engines and is one of only a few cars in the class using a manual transmission.

Leaf Spring, Outlaw 632, Outlaw 275, Nitrous X, Outlaw Drag Radial, X275, Ultimate Street and Radial vs. the World. We will be running till 10 PM at the latest tonight.

The PTC Radial vs. the World class had no less that 40 cars today for round one qualifying with Steve Jackson leading qualifying with a late session 4.11 at 182.13 MPH and Kevin Cram sitting at the bottom. A full fifteen cars are in the 4.20 range or better so far with many heavy hitter cars not having good luck this session. There are quite a few new cars, and faces including several cars from the grudge ranks and even a Pro Nitrous Camaro driven by Taylor Lastor.

Dewayne Mills sits in second spot with his Golden Gorilla Camaro with a 4.120 at 194 while paired up with Mark Micke, who also was no slouch landing eighth with his 4.18 at 193. team M&M is working out the new, bigger engine and is readily clocking runs over 190 MPH.

Chris Daniel laid down a nice pass to earn top MPH for the round with a 4.17 at 197 MPH. Whatever they are doing is working well so far after only a handfull of passes on the new combo.

Enzo Pacchini blasted to a 1.14 at 184 to become the quickest car with a Procharger, landing 5th so far.

Taylor Lastor not make the 32 car field after striking the tires. Things have come a long way to see this type of car competing in the class and it’s raised some chatter in the pits for sure.

Barry Mitchell leads Outlaw Drag Radial qualifying after taking over the top position with a 4.324 at 172 from Marty Stinnett’s 4.364 at 179. They split low Et and top MPH for the round.

Scott Husted put up a personal best ET in ODR running a 4.414 at 177, nudging Brian Anderson to seventh by a higher speed.

Ron Rhodes and the Rhodes Custom Auto crew are running two classes this weekend and need to make weight changes between classes. He is running Leaf Spring as well as X275 and is currently the top qualifier in both classes with a 4.63 in Leaf Spring with the difference being about 100 pounds. The team spent hours on the scales determining where to take the weight out so as not to upset the balance of the car.

Brian Keep has made some consistent runs so far this weekend landing ninth with a 5.28 in the field of 28 Ultimate Street cars. He is off pace a bit but the flames sure are awesome.
