We are live Sunday morning for the final day here at Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the 2016 Street Car Super Nationals under overcast skies and getting ready for round one of Flying A Outlaw Pro Mod. This clean 64 Chevelle runs in Outlaw 8.5 and is owned by Casey Van Tol out of Orland, California and one of seven brothers, all of whom own cars and race. The family is in the dairy business and is second generation from Holland. The car is all steel with a full interior with a fiberglass hood and is running in Procharger 235 Limited. The engine is a big Chevy from AES in Chicago topped with Induction Solutions nitrous. The paint and body was done by Eric Baron from Romona Body Shop. The car rides on Mickey Thompson tires, Weld wheels and stopping power from Wilwood.

Melanie Salemi was off pace in qualifying with an electronics issue messing up the fuel curve on the engine. Melanie’s husband and tuner John Salemi says he has it figured out this morning and will be looking to run in the 5.80’s today in round two of Precision Turbo Pro Mod eliminations.
One of the cleanest cars on the property this weekend is Tony Ferguson's 56 Chevy 150 sedan running in 235 Limited. The car started as a body only field find taking about four years to get finished up for racing duty with the flawless paint and body done by Tony's cousin back in Wisconsin and the rest of the build done by Tony who had some help installing the roll cage. His 5.67 in qualifying last night is a new best for the car. He runs a509 big Chevy topped with a Cross Hair plate set up by Steve Johnson Induction Solutions in Spring Hill, Florida. The Ferguson's race together with his wife Jessica and their children here this weekend. From left to right, Tony, Riley, Isaiah and Jessica Ferguson.

Tommy Johanns and Eric Peterson were the first pair out in Outlaw Pro Mod this morning. Johanns got into tire shake near one hundred feet out and was forced to pedal allowing Peterson to get out front. He put up his best of weekend 6.20 at 238 to earn the win to Johanns’ 6.42 at 230 MPH.
Top qualifier Troy Coughlin ran hard to the stripe scoring a personal best run, a 5.591 at 272.28 MPH.

Sidnei Frigo laid down a 5.61 at 261 in his round one match with Daniel McKune scoring a win to McKune’s 6.13 at 225 effort.

Corey Stephens from Wentzville, Montana took the win in Outlaw 8.5 over Erick Aldrich’s 72 Maverick running a 4.83 at 143 to Aldrich’s 4.96 at 149 MPH.

Casey Van Tol and David Holtgrew were paired up in an all Chevy battle in Procharger 235 Limited with Val Tol besting his qualifying ET with a 5.67 at 124 MPH taking the round win over Holtgrew’s 68 Chevy II.

Round two of Outlaw Pro Mod saw Mike Maggio paired with Rob Moore’s Frankenpala. Maggio ran a 5.78 at 260 taking the round as Moore struck the tires and shutting it down.

Troy Coughlin had a single in round two of Outlaw Pro Mod, running it out to a 5.61 at 270 securing lane choice for the next round.

In Precision Turbo Pro Mod round two Sidnei Frigo faced off with Garrett Richards’ Supercharged 2012 Shelby. Richards was away first putting up a 5.94 at 243 but could not hold off the PLR powered TT Vette of Frigo made another good run scoring a 5.74 at 259 and the round win.

Ken Sihota and Steve Nicholson were paired up in Outlaw 10.5 in an all Langley, BC match. Sihota would earn the round with a 4.10 at 178 to Nicholson’s 4.23 at 174.
Semi Final Results

Robert Costa runs his 1970 Dodge Dart in Magnafuel Outlaw 10.5 with a Pat Musi 943 Chevy based out of Albuquerque, New Mexico. The chassis is an older Jerry Bickel Pro Mod chassis now fitted with 10.5’s. He took the track record for 10.5 at PSCA Denver with a 4.315 taking a runner up finish in the final in his sole outing there this year. The team includes former AFC driver Shawn Jones and Jim and Cletus Riedel. Yearwood Performance is on board with sponsorship along with Quick Drive converter drive, Larue Motorsports and Albuquerque Dragway.

Eric McEwan runs his 1973 Camaro in Procharger 235 Limited with a 414 small block Chevy topped with Fast Lane Nitrous built out of his Bow Tie Engine Shop in Greely, Colorado. They have struggled this weekend with the car and are sorting out some transmission issues before the final. Crew includes Keenan, Tyler and special thanks to his father Danny.

Hyperformance Motorsports’ Dan Saitz has a new car here this weekend competing in Outlaw 8.5 which he won his class in Drag Week with this year and scored fourth overall with a 7.66 ET and 188 MPH averages and won the Modified Power Adder class. The engine in the car was purpose built with off the shelf parts and TFS heads from Summit Racing so it is easily duplicated and repaired with readily available parts. He will be in the final with George Raygoza.
Final Results

The Flying A Outlaw Pro final came down to Mike Maggio and John Stanley in an all blower, east coast vs west coast match. Stanley went red in his CTS-V Caddy but neither racer noticed till down track with both cars getting into some shake and an ensuing pedal fest and exciting side by side match. Maggio put up a 6.461 at 247 while Stanley ran a 6.39 at 247 MPH for the runner up spot at the twelfth annual Street Car Super Nationals.

Precision Turbo Pro Mod would be Mike Bowman vs Sidnei Frigo with Frigo gettign away first but running into trouble getting out of shape before half track. Oak Hills, California based Bowman got in a clean hit running a 5.788 at 259 MPH to score the class win in his twin turbocharged 1969 Chevelle.

Magnafuel Outlaw 10.5 featured a Canada vs US final with Ken Sihota paired with Robert Costa out of Albuquerque, New Mexico in his 1970 Duster. Sihota was away first with both drivers late off the tree and just .008 separating their reaction times with Sihota having a .108. Sihota’s 2000 Firebird crossed the stripe first earning the event win with a 4.034 at 185 MPH followed closely by Costa’s game 4.066 at 183.

Morrow Brothers Ford Radial vs the World had Roger Holder’s Camaro meet up with Mike Keenan in the Corvette. Holder had lane choice with a 4.10 at 191 on a single from the semis and left first but fell off pace with a wiggle down track slowing to a 4.37 at 188 MPH giving him the best seat to watch Keenan motor on to the win with a 4.110 at 196 MPH, high MPH for the class this weekend.
Jr. Pro Stock had just four cars left after an accident took out two competitors in qualifying. Robbie Blankenship based out of Hudson, Florida made the trip out and scored number one qualifier with his 2004 Mustang. He would face off with Mike Dahl driving a 2005 Cavalier. Dahl did his job on the tree with an .087 reaction to Blankenship's safe .107. It would be the little Ford first to the stripe running the table with a 7.945 at 170 to Dahl's 8.074 at 166.11.

Mickey Thompson 275 Radial pit number one and three qualifiers together with Greg Henschell out of Coquitlam, BC matched up with Bristol, Virginia based Jacky McCarty. Henschell got away first with a .023 reaction giving him a significant advantage of a full tenth over Bristol, Virgina based Jacky McCarty. It would be Henschell to the stripe first with a 4.483 at 162.49 to McCarty’s 4.497 at 165.48 with both racers turned up with their best runs of the weekend in the final.

Procharger 235 Limited pit number two and three qualifiers together with Dan Dagata having lane choice in the final over Eric McEwan’s 73 Camaro. Just .002 separated them at the tree with McEwen improving on his previous run to a 5.590 at 128.91 takign the win and Dagata slowing a bit to a 5.619 at 126.14 for the runner up finish.

Vortech Outlaw 8.5 pit Fenton’ Missouri’s Dan Saitz against Orland, Colorado based George Raygoza, who drives the 68 Nova for Dan Val Tol. Raygoza took the tree first with a .044 reaction time and put up his best run of eliminations 4.828 at 149.70 it just was not enough to stay in front of the hard charging Saitz who ran a 4.741 at 158.09 MPH to earn the win.

The Magnafuel XDR final round had Norman Chang and Eric Gustafson with Gustafson having lane choice by virtue of his 4.343 at 167.84 in the semi finals on a single. Chang had the potential as he scored a 4.366 at 167 against James Lawrence who jumped the beam in round three ending his weekend. Chang left first with a .066 light to Gustafson’s .089. Gustafson was on a pass for sure but the car power wheelied and hit hard on the center line as he lifted. The cars nearly collided with Chang earning the win with a 4.89 at 129 and both drivers pulling avoidance maneuvers down track.
