A special thanks goes out to Comp Cams and the entire comp Performance Group, sponsors of our year-long race coverage.

So far so good here at the OWSN as we are heading into a fine weekend for racing with high temps forecast only into the lo-mid 80’s dropping into the 60’s at night. Several cars took advantage of today’s test session including Larry Hutchinson’s clean 1st gen Camaro. I believe he is running the Pro Street class here and is a regular in the Florida Street Outlaws.

Jerico Balduff was testing here last night and got down with a 3.99, their first pass in the three second zone. A .985 60′ and .265 330′ were the increments on the run. They were fighting some traction and tire shake issues traced to a cracked weld on a 4 link bracket. Now that they have a new housing in the car they should be back to making progress Gotham themed Willys.

Chuck Moan was testing with the Northeast Outlaws recently and ran into a bit of luck winding up in the final round with Angela Ray getting some very good data on the way. This weekend that are sporting Susan G. Comen colors to show they support for breast cancer awareness and have merchandise in the pits where 50% of sales will be donated to the foundation.
The manufacturer midway is shaping up and vendors are getting set up today in expectation of the crowds Saturday and Sunday here at the World Street Nationals at Orlando Speedworld Dragway. We are set to go with the first round of qualifying set to begin about 4 PM.

Troy Pirez Sr. is here fresh of a class win in Outlaw 632 and has a fresh engines out of Fast Forward Racing Engines in New Port Richey, Florida. Pirez has moved to OL 632 from X275 as Florida now runs the Ultra 6Street class instead of X275. Look for him to be a front runner here this weekend.
We stopped by the FKR pits and had a chat with Pat Fasnacht, the owner of Racecraft Inc. Kevin Fiscus partnered up with Racecraft about two and a half years ago in what started as build for X275 before changing direction and building a car for the top Drag Radial class racing. This is the third event for the car which to date has run a best of 4.19 at 193 MPH at No Mercy V. Josh Klugger handles driving in the Mustang for the FRK two car team while Kevin Fiscus pulls duty in their NHRA Legal Pro Mod. Team FKR will be at The Strip in Las Vegas for the NHRA Event Halloween weekend where they will have the Drag Radial car on display while competing in Pro Modified before running the Super Street Car Nationals later in November in search of lowering their own quarter mile Drag Radial record.

Tony Ridnour and the Goodtimer racing crew are ready for action in Outlaw Drag Radial this weekend. The Tampa based team is a regular here and in the class.
Another Florida Street Outlaws competitor, Scott Vanderspool sits in sixth spot there and is running 10.0 index this weekend with his familiar 1970 roots blown Oldsmobile. His bower crank pulley broke and got under the car in his last outing damaging the header and exhaust on one side which wasn't discovered until they unloaded today. He just cut off the damaged pipe and will run like that this weekend, unless he happens to find some headers in the swap meet that fit.

With fourteen cars so far in Heavy Street it’s shaping up nicely and has been one of the more popular classes here at Orlando for some years. Tony Alm took the number one spot in his 275 drag radial equipped Mustang with a 7.23 at 198. He is double entered in Outlaw 275 as well were he managed second spot with a 4.56 at 167.

A full field already for Outlaw 632 with 16 cars making the call for round one qualifying. Rob Briscoe out of Stuart, FL knocked it out with a 4.49 at 160 for top qualifier.

Mike Freeman drove up from Lehigh, FL with his 88 Mustang tuned by Jason Gatlin from Automatic Transmission Factory. They had to replace a bent rim on the car from a towing mishap after hydroplaning coming back from the ATF shop after the Yellow Bullet Nationals last month. He clicked it a little early landing fourth in the field.

Here Mike Miller from Orlando pairs up with Brian Keep’s 98 S-10 in Ultra Street. Miller turned a 5.38 at 128 putting him tenth Keep made a good hit landing fourth with a 5.13 at 136.

Ultra Street racer Gary Price had his purge solenoid stick open on his second qualifier, never the less he improved his time from a 5.10 to a 5.06 moving up to second in the class.
