The Download: NHRA Drops Big News On 2025 Racing Season

The Performance Racing Industry (PRI) tradeshow is about more than just new high-performance parts, there’s always big announcements made about the upcoming racing season. There was a ton of NHRA news dropped during the show and we’ve got a summary of all the hot new sin one place for you to check out in case you missed any of it.

The 2025 Category Schedules

There will be plenty of specialty races for every NHRA Mission Foods category in 2025. The Mission Foods 2fast2Tasty NHRA challenge and GETTRX NHRA All-Star Callouts will be back again. Here’s a breakdown of where all these specialty races will be contested and what categories will be participating at each event in 2025.

2025 NHRA On FOX Schedule

FOX and the NHRA have been cranking out great coverage since they joined forces. In 2025 all 20 NHRA national events plus the NHRA All-Star Callout events in Top Fuel and Funny Car, and the GETTRX NHRA All-Star Callout race in Pro Stock and Pro Stock Motorcycle will all get airtime on FOX.

The Countdown Goes Four-Wide In 2025

The NHRA Countdown to the Championship will get its first four-wide race in 2025. zMax Dragway’s 4-Wide Carolina Nationals has been moved into the countdown September 19-21. This will change the typical NHRA Countdown to the Championship schedule and add some extra drama to the show in 2025.

The Hot Rod Heritage Racing Series Gets 11 Races in 2025

The popular NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Racing Series gets two more events in 2025. The Wally Parks Nostalgia Nationals event and the California Hot Rod Reunion will be two marque events in 2025.

 March 6-9: Good Vibrations Motorsports March Meet, Famoso Dragstrip – Bakersfield, CA (TF, FC, Groups 1-2)

April 5-6: Tucson Dragway Reunion, Tucson Dragway – Tucson, AZ (Groups 1-2)

April 24-26: Nitro Nationals, Osage Casino Hotel Tulsa Raceway Park – Tulsa, OK (TF)

May 16-18: NAPA Auto Parts Ignitor Nitro Opener presented by The Blower Shop, Firebird Raceway – Boise, ID (FC)

May 23-24: Funny Car Fever, Redding Motorsports Park – Redding, CA (Groups 1-2)

June 19-21: Wally Parks NHRA Nostalgia Nationals, Beech Bend Raceway Park – Bowling Green, KY (TF)

July 11-13: Rocky Mountain Nationals, RAD Torque Raceway – Edmonton, AB (FC)

August 1-3: Nightfire Nationals presented by BI-MART, Firebird Raceway – Boise, ID (TF, FC)

August 21-23: Nostalgia Summer Nationals, Woodburn Dragstrip – Woodburn, OR (FC, Groups 1-2)

September 19-20: Thunder Under the Lights, Redding Motorsports Park – Redding, CA (TF, Groups 1-2)

October 24-26: California Hot Rod Reunion, Famoso Dragstrip – Bakersfield, CA (TF, FC, Groups 1-2)

NHRA Peach State Showcase Of Speed

The NHRA is bringing big show nitro excitement in an exhibition format to South Georgia Motorsports Park in 2025. This two day event will feature two Top Fuel and Funny Car teams, as well as four Pro Stock and Pro Stock Motorcycle teams. This will be a non-points event and is designed to revive the old-school feel of match racing at a local track. More information will be released about the NHRA Peach State Showcase Of Speed in early 2025.

NHRA’s 75th Anniversary Announcements

It’s not too early to start thinking about 2026 and the NHRA’s 75th anniversary. Who knew that the vision of NHRA Wally Parks would ascend to such great heights? The NHRA has already created a solid list of things fans can expect to see during its 75th season and there will be more to come for sure.

  • 75TH ANNIVERSARY RINGS: The NHRA revealed a special 75th-anniversary replica rings that will be given to fans who renew their tickets for the 2026 race throughout the upcoming season. These rings will be a replica of the 75th-anniversary rings given to the Mission Foods Drag Racing Series world champions in 2026.
  • COMMEMORATIVE TICKETS: Each fan can purchase a special commemorative ticket for 2026 events to celebrate the landmark 75th season.
  • SPECIAL 2026 WALLY TROPHY: The NHRA will introduce a new and unique Wally trophy that will be given to all race winners during the 2026 season. The 75th anniversary Wally will only be given out during the 2026 year.
  • WALLY PARKS DOCUMENTARY: A comprehensive and first-time full-length documentary on iconic NHRA Founder Wally Parks will be released during the 2026 season.
  • TOP 75 DRIVER LIST: Much like the Top 50 NHRA Driver List that was released during the 50th anniversary season in 2001, the NHRA will release its Top 75 Driver List during the 2026 season. The Top 75 Drivers list will also be released in book form.
  • 75TH ANNIVERSARY COFFEE TABLE BOOK: A high-quality hardcover coffee table book will be released in alignment with the 75th anniversary as a must-have for any fan, detailing the incredible history of the NHRA, from its humble beginnings to its current status.
