For those familiar with Steve Morris Engines, quad-digit horsepower is nothing out of the ordinary. It’s striking when speaking to their team and hearing the blasé tone used when describing their motors chucking out power levels fitting for an ocean liner. It almost seems that the ability to ripple asphalt with a prod of the throttle is commonplace.
Steve Morris is bringing two new things to the market: new Vortech supercharger bells and internal-modifications, and some new Vortech drive brackets.
With Morris, their astronomical figures can be attributed, in large part, to their expertise with forced induction. Whether they’re turbocharging their motors or bolting on a centrifugal supercharger, pulling out every available pony through forced induction is something they’re familiar with. In fact, their in-house engineering team has recently developed a line of Vortech supercharger-related products to facilitate installation and functionality.
We spoke with our pal Alex Esnaola, and he told us that their new parts developed out of an overwhelming demand in the market, starting with their new line of Vortech side-mounted bracket systems which address the need for an alternative means of mounting a supercharger system. These units are manufactured from ¾” 6061T-6 aluminum with the Vortech logo beautifully engraved into the body – and the aesthetics can be customized to your liking. Whether you enjoy a polished surface, a certain anodized color or a custom logo carved into your bracket, Esnaola said, it’s all feasible.

Steve Morris Engines’ side-slinger brackets are designed to optimize packaging in cramped engine bays.
These kits are optimized for the V-20 series of gear case transmissions, the strongest available from Vortech. As it happens, the same gear case has been used to make in excess of 2,800 horsepower! Steve Morris Engines makes the installation process even simpler with their Supercharger Conversion Kits, which include a fuel system, custom blow-through carburetor, and a custom-designed camshaft for your application. With a variety of models to choose from and kits available for SBC, BBC, SBF, and BBF applications, there is an abundance of routes to take towards more torque and horsepower.
Steve Morris Engines also provides a new line of volutes specially-machined to help straighten the supply of air into the Vortech inlet and improve power output. Esnaola explained, “Each ProVolute is a one-off build and made from one-hundred percent billet aluminum. Depending on the specific model, there are different means of going about ordering these pieces, but with our expertise, nothing is outside the realm of possibility.”
For the widely-used supercharger models, it’s a simple process. “If we know what product our customer has, we can pull the trigger on CNC and just go,” said Esnaola. Brand-new or niche models require a bit more work, however, nothing is impossible. “If ProCharger or Vortech comes out with a new blower, we would have our engineering department take measurements and develop a new ProVolute bell.” Clearly, there is enough expertise with blowers among the seven skilled sets of hands working at Steve Morris Engines to come up with the optimal solution, whatever the route.
