The ADRL moves into Houston Raceway Park as they work on the last half of the 2010 racing year. The last race at Topeka was rained out and the ADRL looks to finish those elimination rounds during qualifying. Keep it tuned to Dragzine all day Friday and Saturday for coverage from Houston.

Thanks to rain at this year’s Dragpalooza VI in March, we’re witnessing a back to back weekend double event at Houston Raceway Park. Among all the powerhouses in ADRL Pro Extreme, E/T record holder Frankie Taylor is bringing out an all-new 2005 Corvette, extremely similar to his old record ride, but lighter…

The world class doorslammers and Nitro funny cars have not much in common aside from the fact that we love to watch ‘em thunder down the 1320, but could the ADRL be reaching out to the NHRA fan crowd and even one of their past funny car champions? At this past weekend’s NHRA race, a little evidence of Tony Pedregon an ADRL branching together was found hiding in plain sight.

The Hardee’s Independence Drags VI at Heartland Park Topeka was marred by a series of accidents involving the likes of Billy Glidden, Jason Hamstra, and Bubba Stanton that put them out of contention for the weekend and their seasons in question.

Ever since this big-tire Mustang poked its head outside of Proline’s shop doors, we’ve been pretty impressed with what Coby, tuner Steve Petty and everyone else involved with this ride have pulled off – staying competitive anywhere from the PSCA to the ADRL week in and week out is an impressive feat in itself. After a brief encounter with the wall a couple weeks back, the car was brought over to Texas Chassisworks in Tyler, TX for a few key changes and repairs.

The ADRL moves into the Martin Michigan as it nears the half way point of the season. Even four races into the year new cars and fresh rebuilds continue to pop up throughout the classes. Keep it tuned to Dragzine all day Friday and Saturday for coverage from Martin.

The ADRL is about to be invaded by another new Mustang that has been outfitted with the power plant of choice – a Brad Anderson Hemi. Anyone who has followed the ADRL knows that BAE Hemi’s with a screw blower make noise on the track and in the record books which has been exemplified by Chuck Ulsch. Now Dan Millen is the next racer to try his luck with the screw blower.

Jimmy Blackmon and the crew at his Straightline Chassis shop in Georgia are making steady progress on their new twin-turbocharged 1968 Firebird ADRL Extreme 10.5 entry that should hit the track for testing in the coming weeks.

It is the third race of the year for the ADRL season as they move to Virgina Motorsports Park in Petersburg, VA. Check back starting Friday and all the way through to the end of Saturday for updates throughout the day.

A host of racers will be back in action or sporting new looks at this weekends ADRL Speedtech U.S. Drags III at Virginia Motorsports Park in Dinwiddie, VA, including Charles Carpenter famous ‘55 Chevy, Mick Snyder in the repaired ex-Jason Scruggs Vette, and Cody Barklage in the family’s updated ‘57 Chevy.

David Hance and the New York Motorsports team are headed to Virginia Motorsports Park for this weekend’s ADRL U.S. Drags III on a mission, with a new Alan Johnson HEMI sporting twin 94mm turbochargers that Hance hopes to make some noise with in Extreme 10.5.

Stavrinos Motorsports is stepping up their game this year, selling the old car and heading to ADRL’s XTF class with a new sponsor and a new lightweight 68 Camaro from Sheppard Race Cars. Once again Stavrinos Motorsports will go with Nelson Competition for the engine on this all-billet piece.

Just one more round win. That’s all ADRL Pro Nitrous legend Charles Carpenter has needed at the first two races of the 2010 championship season to go from two second-place finishes in a row to two huge wins in a row. There hasn’t been a Pro Nitrous final round contested thus far in 2010 without Carpenter’s unmistakable ’55 Chevy Bel Air in one of the lanes, and while a win would be nice, Carpenter is thrilled to be going rounds and consistently going down the track.

Gary White and the Titan Motorsports crew laid down an astounding 3.99 at 182.45 MPH at last weekends ADRL race at SGMP, becoming the fourth member of the exclusive Mickey Thompson 3-Second Club. Team Titan has proudly shared a video of the run that they’ve worked so hard to achieve.

This is the second race of the year for the ADRL as they move to Georgia at South Georgia Motorsports Park. The first event was a rain out on Saturday and hopefully the rain will hold off this weekend for some great racing. Check back to Dragzine.com Friday and Saturday, throughout the day as we will be bringing you updates from SGMP

ADRL Pro Extreme racer Ellis Vial finally got his brand-new, K&K Precision-built ‘68 Firebird out for its initial outing this past weekend during an event at Virginia Motorsports Park and it didn’t take long for him to put its handling characteristics to a fittingly extreme test.

For the first time in several years, Barklage Racing will field two cars in the ADRL’s Pro Extreme class this weekend at South Georgia Motorsports Park in Cecil, Georgia, as brothers Zach and Cody Barklage compete in the ADRL Hardee’s Georgia Drags VI. The Barklage boys are on a mission to jump to the top of the qualifying field and take some round wins on race day with oldest brother Zach driving a 1967 Camaro belonging to John and Sara Heath, and Cody driving the Barklage family-owned ‘67 Firebird he steered to a sixth-place finish in Pro Extreme points last year.

Extreme Pro Stock racer Pete Berner hits the eighth mile at South Georgia Motorsports Park this weekend in the ADRL Hardee’s Georgia Drags VI. With new motors and a unique setup needed for eighth-mile racing in his Summit GXP, Berner has been on a bit of a learning curve during his time on the ADRL circuit.

After rain cut short the opening round of the American Drag Racing League’s (ADRL’s) 2010 season last month at Houston, the eighth-mile drag racing series returns to action Apr. 23-24, with the ADRL Hardee’s Georgia Drags VI at South Georgia Motorsports Park (SGMP), near Valdosta. Several record-setting runs were recorded during qualifying at Houston Raceway Park before the wet stuff arrived and similar performances are expected at SGMP, known for its fast, all-concrete racing surface and as the only venue remaining on the ADRL tour since the series’ inaugural 2005 schedule.

The ADRL, despite its outlaw format and thin rulebook, is able to maintain the health and parity of its series through communication with its competitors and keeping a keen and watchful eye on advancing technologies that the series feels would prove to be detrimental.
