The 2012 NPD F.A.S.T. racing season closer was held at super-fast MIR Dragway in Mechanicsville, MD the first weekend of November. With the cool Fall air and super sticky racing surface, there was no better way to finish the year off.
Just when you think the drag racing season was over, Bradenton Motorsports gets in the last hurrah with the last major heads up drag race of the year at the Snowbird Nationals. With all the popular heads up racing classes all in one place, plan for a snow-free race weekend in Bradenton, Florida!
With the ORTC race in Georgia last weekend, the racers move further south to the birth place of the ORTC, Bradenton Motorsports Park. This weekend though is Bradenton’s version of the race called the ORDC. Check back to Dragzine all weekend for the latest updates from Bradenton.

It’s early October in New Jersey, and that can only mean it’s time for 9th running of the popular Shakedown at E’Town at Raceway Park in Englishtown. This year will mark the second annual event for the infamous Yellow Bullet Nationals held at Cecil County Dragway in Maryland. Pro classes include OL 10.5, Drag Radial, X275 and 8.50 Index. 10.00 and 11.50 index are also on the bill. Keep tuned to Dragzine for updates through the entire weekend.
It is the first race of the PSCA season right here in sunny southern California. The initial season opener was suppose to happen in Las Vegas, though it was canceled due to weather. This race will not have the Pro Street class in attendance as local noise ordinance laws has forced Fontana to build a sound wall.
Welcome to South Georgia Motorsports Park for Redemption, The Night the Lights Went out in Georgia II. Classes for this event include PTC Radial vs. the World where anything goes as long as you have a converter driven transmission and 315 Drag Radials or a True 10.5 tire. During this time every year Bradenton Motorsports Park holds their Snowbird Nationals drag race and Night of Fire. This event will be action packed with racing from Outlaw Pro Mod, Outlaw 10.5, Outlaw Radial, X275, and more. Keep it tuned to DRAGZINE all day Saturday and Sunday for updates.
The biggest door car race of the entire year happens this weekend in Orlando. The World Street Nationals license plates is something you see on cars around the United States as a souvenir that they participated at this huge race. We are on site at SGMP in Cecil Georgia for the Radial Revolution and the pits are filling up fast. This race has new classes including Outlaw 10.5 and Outlaw 8.5. Thursday will be testing all day then qualifying is Friday and Saturday with Sunday eliminations. Check back all weekend.

Outlaw Drag Radial fans rolled into Maryland International Raceway om Friday the 13th for some great heads up action. Seventeen cars went after it to try and gain the number one spot and win the race. Francis Johnson was number one after qualifying. Come on inside to see if he won the race.

After a 6 month build time the 2008 Orlando World Street Finals winner is just about wrapped up with his latest project, a 1993 Mustang coupe destined for the Outlaw Drag Radial ranks. After the local track cancelled the OL 10.5 class Scott was looking for a new direction. He purchased the Mustang you see here and has’nt looked back.

Outlaw Drag Radial is alive and well in the state of Michigan as Jim Powski Racecraft is working feverishly to finish up another beautiful creation. The Firebird of James Kursay is destined to do battle with it’s LSX small block and a F3R Procharger for motivation. Look for this monster to be finished in time for the 2011 season.

Steve Jackson, one of the most feared racers in the sport, will return to his stomping grounds of drag radial behind the wheel of his familiar flamed Mustang beginning this weekend at Carolina Dragway. A new motor is in the works for later this season, and that doesn’t bode well for the competition.

We found a video displaying some of the great, high-flying 275 Drag Radial action that went down at Dallas Raceway in Texas last weekend. Greg Moss won the event with his ’67 Camaro.
The first ORTC Boost vs. No Boost event of 2010 is in the books and Mother Nature had her say for sure at this one. A rainy Friday and other weather related issues on Saturday delayed the racing into the wee hours Sunday morning but that didn’t stop the great racing and sportsmanship. Will Stevenson found his way to the Boosted winners circle and Jason Black defended his title from last years event for the nitrous side. Jason Richards took home the title of fastest leaf spring nitrous car running 4.75 @ 157 MPH.
Today we are in south Georgia for the kick off Boost vs. No Boost ORTC event of 2010 where radial cars come from across the country come for a shot at the biggest purse in the land. Starting with Thursday’s test session, we will be here providing same day coverage for all classes including the wild wheel-standing Ultimate Street class and the insane speeds of the boosted cars. At last, the news a lot of racers and fans in the New England area have been waiting to hear – 275 drag radial events have finally been officially announced to take place at New England Dragway in Epping, NH this year. Jackson Dragway in Jackson, SC plans to host an Outlaw Drag Radial event on July 11 that will pay $25,000 to the winner and should bring a lot of great radial cars out of the woodwork for a shot at the big pot. Pro Modifieds will also be a part of the show.
In a move that is sure to catch many by surprise, long time nitrous racer Don Long has done the un-thinkable and put a Procharged combo in his wife Amanda’s new edge Mustang. After struggling with various issues since the car’s debut and having no real luck with the nitrous sniffing, Chemi power plant – it certainly was a shock when we heard the news.

275 Drag Radial classes are popping up all across the country and with the open rules, the racers are pushing the envelope to be the fastest. Chris Evans is one of those racers with his hatchback Mustang. He is using the Maryland International Raceway surface as a test bed to put himself among the elite of 275 racers.
England’s Andy Frost and his classic slick-as-a-brick, street legal Vauxhall, powered by a twin turbocharged big block Chevrolet, holds the current world pump gas, radial tire record at 7.67 seconds and 190 MPH. Andy provides DRAGZINE with a look at his decorated career in the sport, and also shines some light on his new project, aptly named Red Victor 3, which he and his crew are hard at work preparing for a 2011 debut that will see a tour of duty in the United States.
The 275 is class that is making big waves right now and the cars running are becoming more and more competitive with the creative combos thought up by the racers. At each race you’ll see Fords, Dodges, and Chevy’s all in the low 5 second range in the 1/8th mile. Inside we overview some of the highlights of the class, including rules and key contenders.
The inaugural race at South Georgia Motorsports Park was everything we expected and more. David Wolfe ran a string of 4.40′s to take the win in the Proline Race Engines sponsored Radial vs the World class over Scotty Gaudagno in a slick vs radial final. Wheelies were the order of the weekend in TRZ Motorsports Ultimate Street where Mike Freeman took the win over Bob Kurgan, Freeman’s team mate Brian Goss set low ET for the event with a 4.98 and hi MPH with a 140 MPH run to drive by Kirk Hatley. The BMF Extreme 275 class has several cars in the 4′s with Troy Pirez setting low ET with a 4.917 and getting a hole shot victory over Joe Morgan. All that plus exclusive winners circle interviews with David Wolfe and Don Long, and Troy Pirez.
“This just did not just happen. No way.” It wasn’t a reaction to running the first pass in the sixes. Instead, that was David Hance’s first reaction after spinning out and hitting the wall at the Shakedown at E-Town late last year. A great racer is not someone who can go out there a few times and run some good runs. It’s a racer who can make a few runs then fall really hard, get back up and make a record pass. That is what David Hance did and we spoke with him about the road to the six second barrier.
