Shawn Pevlor has been one of the big hitters in the Ultra Street category since the inception of the class a few years ago. In the time that he has been running Ultra Street, Pevlor has always been towards the front of the pack, and impressed everyone with the strong nitrous oxide combination in his Ford Mustang.
In 2015, Pevlor has fought numerous issues, but during the YellowBullet Nationals over Labor Day Weekend, the gremlins look to have been solved. After blasting through the qualifying rounds and dominating his side of the ladder, he faced off with Ultra Street juggernaut, Joel Greathouse and Team KBX Performance, in the final round.
Pevlor and his team loaded in the big tune-up in their Nitrous Pro-Flow single stage crossbar plate system and rolled down the ‘hill’ at Cecil County Dragway and onto the concrete, freshly prepped for the final round of eliminations. Joel Greathouse clicked off an incredible 4.87 pass but Shawn was right next door with the quickest nitrous pass in Ultra Street history, a 4.89 at 143 mph! Even though it was not enough to take the win at YB Nationals, it was just the turning point in Pevlor’s season that was needed.
Rolling into South Georgia Motorsports Park for No Mercy VI, Pevlor and his Cincinnati-based team was primed and focused on making a serious run in Ultimate Street. Pevlor and his talented crew prepped the car with a few pre-race test hits during the two test sessions before qualifying began on Thursday evening. After four rounds of tough qualifying, Pevlor and his BES small block powerplant sat atop the field stacked with 37 entries with a strong 4.903 at 142 mph.
With a few more races left on the schedule, Pevlor and team are looking to extend their streak of stellar runs and land in the winner’s circle again with their Nitrous Pro-Flow products before the book closes on the 2015 drag racing season.
