Sunday is eliminations day here at the 2010 Snowbird Outlaw Nationals and we are ready to roll kicking off with the index Classes.
The event will be action packed with racing from Outlaw Pro Mod, Outlaw 10.5, Outlaw Radial, X275, and more. Keep it tuned to DRAGZINE all day Saturday and Sunday for updates.

Today startedoff with a round of bracket time trials and moved to the first round of index classes. The first heads up class downtoday will be the TAD cars running the 1/4 at over 200 MPH

Number 2 qualifier in Pro Mod Tony Pugliese got busy this morning making some changes to the 4 link settings. They were just wrapping up when I dropped by.

Kris Thorns also made some changes thanks to Hank Hill last night they got a good clean pass in running a 4.56 @ 157. They are planning to put some more power infor first roun where Thorne will face Ray Schuler's number qualified 68 Fulton powered Camaro.

Teammates Ken Cruz and Chris Mendola face off in round one of Automatic Pro Mod this morning. Mendola has the ET advantage but you never know what will happen. Good luck guys.

Pro Mod racer Mike Rein unpload this morning. Above him you can see some clouds associated with a front and a band of showers headed south. We hope they skip over but one never knows what mother nature will bring.
Round One Notes

The X275 class has several cars bunched up with a 5,17 or better with Clint Lonon setting low ET for round one again today with a nice 5.02 @ 139 on his single. Kenward ripped off a clean 5.08 to take down Mike Fratena's wheelie prone Camaro and Pirez stepped it up to a 5.17 @ 136 against Snodgrass who backfired on the line. Freeman lost traction and pedaled the car several times over Steve Strobel's Vette. round two has the potential for some very close racing for sure.

Radial Tire saw Nelson rip off a 4.87 @ 162 despite getting the front in the air and pedaling the car twice to get it back on the ground against Dave Boger.

Troy Pirez also got the front in the air and wound up sideways in his match with Chad Opaleski's 66 Chevelle who will go on to round two. Husted took the win over hart with a 4.73 as Hart kicked the tires early and shut it down.

Jeff Ensslin took a lucky win over Richard Bligh as Bligh seems to have issues at the tree and simply drove down. Whitlow will have lane choice going against Brett Newell after getting by Adam Flamholc with a 4.69.

Sheldon Bissessar had low ET again in the Open outlaw class after getting the win over Matt Wirth who got up on the wheelie bars hard and a red light start.

Auto Pro Mod cometitor Pat Queesenbery went left in a big way and wound up across the center line giving away an easy win after Kenny Burgess' red light in the other lane. Davis took out Markwart with a 4.12 to 4.27. Stringer laid down a decent 4.21 over Lykins Blown Camaro. Robert Mathis ripped off a nive 4.07 to take out Hansen's .008 light and 4.12. Mendola got the win over teammate Ken Cruz after Cruz had problems at the start.
Round Two Notes

Lonon laid down another 5.02 and upping the MPH to 140 over the wounded Dan Hill. Kenward picked up again to a 5.06 @ 138 to get by Berry’s 5.21 and .038 lihgt. Fernandez ran a 5.14 @ 138 as Pirez spun at the hit. Freeman also had traction issues in a loss to Eugene Rodriguez’ 5.18 to the loosing 5.35.
Radial Tire
Chad Opaleski won over Mel Nelson in a stunner as Nelson wheelied out and moved towards the wall slowing to a 5.95 to Opaleski’s 5.12. Scott Husted did his job on the tree but came up short in the lights, his 4.75 took a loos to Carlton Thompson’s 4.68 @ 166.
OL 10.5
Wells ran another 4.2x to get the win over Ensslin’s 5.14 but showed some smoke out of the left bank in the lights. Whitlow slowed to a 7.44 in a loos to Newell’s 4.67 @ 157.
Open Outlaw
Bissessar ran a 5.83 @ 241 on his single. Gilmore put up a 6.09 @ 26 to get around Ron Logan’s 6.22 @ 221 and .021 tree. Smith advanced over Heister, 6.11 to 6.77
Automatic Pro Mod
Ronnie Davis drove straight down to a 4.13 @ 179 over Burgess. Steve Stringer got the win over John Dancu who clicked it early. Mathis ran a 4.27 @ 177 over Mendola’s game 4.38 @ 170.Stringer’s 4.23 was good enough for round win over Schuler.
Pro Mod
“Fast” Frank ran a 6.19 @ 227 to get around Scott Braskett who slowed to a 7.55 @ 128. Pugliese won over Jimy Keen who bogged at the hit.
Top Alcohol Dragster
Bill Evans’ 5.53 @ 256 took out Fiorelli who started smoking hard past half track and slowed to a 6.95 @ 139. Samsel ran a 5.44 @ 258 on his single.
Finals Update

6.50 Index Winner Gary Williams over Wesley Lee. Williams had a .010 advantage on the tree and 6.521 to Lee's 6.520 at the stripe.

5.50 Index Winner Dave Marcus Jr. over Mark Nelson. Marcus' .026 light gave him enough to win with a 5.542 over Nelson's 5.540.

X275 Winner Clint Lonon after two 4.99's back to back in the semis and the final over John Fernandez who pedaled the car after getting the wheels a little to high and slowing to a 5.24 @ 138.

Radial Tire had the nitrous car of Chad Opaleski and Carlton Thompson's turbocharged mustang in the final. Thompson was out first then Chad backfired through the scoop about 70 feet out shutting the car down allowing Thompson to cruise to victory with a 4.71 @ 163.

Rob Wells was on a string most of the weekend running a 4.27 @ 182 in the final to take out Brett Newell's 4.73 @ 155.

Automatic Pro Mod pitted number one qualifier Ronnie Davis with number six Tom Stringer. Stringer went red with a -.021 as Davis went on to run a 4.11 @ 180 matching his semi final ET.

Pro Mod put number two and four against each other with Cersosimo having lane choice with his earlier 6.18 @ 227 over top qualifier Scott Braskett. Pugliese slowed to a 6.80 and "Fast" Frank put up another 6.19 to take the win.

Open Outlaw featured Sheldon Bissessar and Smith in the final with Bissessar having lane choice. he went wheels up however and had to pedal the car allowing Smith to get the win with his best run of the event, a 6.05 @ 230.
