PRI 2015: Moroso Displays New Oil Pans And Billet Valve Covers

Moroso’s narrow frame rear sump LS pan helps fit in tight subframe packages.

One area of custom car building that has always been an attention-getter is the bling under the hood. For years, rattle cans and chrome were the most popular way that an engine could be detailed, and billet or custom fabricated parts were only on the high-dollar show cars.

As technology to create these parts increased, it began making it more cost-effective to build these parts in larger numbers, offering lots of new bling for some of the coolest engines in everything from a daily cruiser to a weekend warrior.

Moroso showed us some of this new technology with some new products for popular engines. It’s new road race oil pans are perfect for the Pro-Touring crowd with a lower profile for the traditional small-block Chevy engines. The pan works with a one- or two-piece rear seal, or the intermediate seal for Dart SHP blocks.

The new rear sump LS pan has a narrower sump for LS conversions utilizing a billet spin-on filter adapter. The new front sump LS pan is Moroso’s own version with a GTO pickup baffled for road race, drag racing, drifting, and utilizes a remote filter installation.

For the top side of the engine, the new fabricated aluminum valve covers fit various small- and big-block Chevy engines with a variety of aftermarket rocker assemblies. But one of the coolest items that we saw were the billet valve covers for LS and Ford, and get a load of that billet valve cover for the old school Gen II Mopar Hemi. Each Hemi valve cover starts with a 112 pound chunk of billet aluminum, CNC-machined for a very cool set of covers.

Be sure to check out the Moroso website for these and many other engine dress up items. You know the name from decades ago, and as times change, Moroso keeps up with technology.
