After many long talks, debates and sleepless nights, Larry Jeffers bit the bullet and did something that so many people only dream about — he purchased and now owns his very own racetrack.
Over the past four years, Dominic “Dyno Dom” Blasco and his wife, Teri, have molded and shaped this little eighth-mile facility into one of the best drag strips in the state of Missouri. When the Blasco family rolled into town, the vibe around the track was down and many even talked of the place closing for good. Dominic hit the ground running with a new timing system, new colors, making the best of what he had, and the results were remarkable. In just four short seasons, a group of individuals who love racing resurrected a possibly dying facility for all of the race fans in the area. Flash forward back to April 2016, and in walks a fresh face to track ownership and even more great plans and ideas for the Sikeston, Missouri based raceway.
Larry Jeffers, the world renowned chassis builder, has purchased the eighth-mile dragstrip located smack in the middle of the United States. Jeffers has a lot of plans in mind to make the racing better for the fans, racers and all involved — including a possible lengthening of the shutdown area, which is always nice for the racers to make stopping after a fast pass just a little easier.
The 2016 schedule that was in place by Dyno Dom’s team will be carried over to the new ownership, as well as the possibility of adding more events in the coming future. Rich Matthews has signed on as General Manager and will be in charge of the day-to-day operations, and some of the team that worked under Blasco will still be in place to assist Jeffers and Matthews. With the creative mind of Larry Jeffers now in charge of a racetrack in a good location to pull from some major midwest markets, the future is certainly bright at Jeffers Motorsports Park in Sikeston, Missouri.
