On January 11, 2016, EKanoo Racing shocked the world by rolling out their brand new Toyota GT86 Pro Import car at the Bahrain International Circuit and blasted off the world’s quickest and fastest import run in history, a 5.774 at over 247 miles per hour. After much speculation, the rumors were squashed just a few days ago on the team’s popular social media outlets: the world record holding Pro Import is now stateside and going to be competing in several events across the United States of America.
After unloading the sleek white Toyota hot rod out of it’s container this week, team manager Haider Moh’d assembled his dream team of sorts in sunny Florida to get the car checked over after the long trip across the ocean. Crew chiefs Shane Tecklenburg and Eric Luzinski are the leaders of this intricate Pro Mod-esque GT86 that team owner Ebrahim Kanoo dreamed up a few seasons ago and his awesome team of engineers created this monster of a machine.
Moh’d, Tecklenburg, Luzinski and other crewmembers, including Josh ‘Squatch’ Ledford and driver Gary White got the car checked over and put the finishing touches on it before trekking over to the Orlando Speed World Dragway in Florida for a private test session in preparation for it’s first outing on American soil. Unloading out of the Titan Motorsports coach, White and team did their final checks and rolled onto the freshly prepped concrete. Moh’d put White into the hot Mickey Thompson rubber laid down from the burnout and ripped off an incredible 3.97 second elapsed time, lifting off the throttle at 3.6-seconds into the run and coasting through the 1/8-mile timers at 183 mph with the parachutes out!

The global sensation of EKanoo Racing will be making noise in numerous events on American soil very soon!
“EKanoo Racing is very proud to have the import record holder in America and to run some of the prime events that they only get to see on video in their home country of Bahrain,” Ledford shares with Dragzine. “We’re mainly focused on our day time tune-ups here in our first outing at Orlando but hope to lay down big numbers while we have the world famous GT86 in the states.”
Just before going to press, the team made a full 1/4-milep lap with the car, making the quickest run in the United States ever by an import-powered doorslammer, going 5.89 at 245 mph.Ā Stay tuned for moreĀ of EKanoo Racing’s progress with the GT86 as they take on American’s finest.
