Being able to bounce back from adversity is what defines a great racer, and there is no bigger adversity than wrecking a racecar. Former Street Outlaws star John Andrade Jr. recently had a small incident where his Oldsmobile, known as “The Cutty”, nosed into the wall at a no prep race. Andrade got the Cutty back together, and made an appearance at the Streetcar Takeover in Indianapolis to shakedown the freshly repaired Oldsmobile.
For Andrade to make this appearance, he had to do a lot of repair work to the Cutty. “When we hit the wall at the Kansas no prep race, it tore up quite a bit of stuff. The wall demolished my front-clip, hood, all the turbo piping, bent a front spindle, broke my radiator, and damaged the fuel cell mounts. It even messed up the suspension to the point where we had to readjust everything, because it was all out of whack,” Andrade explains.
After some serious hustle, the Cutty was patched back up quickly and ready to hit the track again. During the repair process Andrade took the time to address some problems with the car. “The old front clip and turbo piping had been hacked on, and patched up from previous wrecks. Now she is back to her pretty self with all the issues fixed and running good,” he says.
Since the Cutty is back together, Andrade plans on putting it through its paces often. “We are still going to be traveling around the country, and have eight more events scheduled for the year. Other than that, I plan on just doing any kind of racing possible with my family,” Andrade explains.
