More Memories Made At Ames Performance Pontiac Nationals

Everything from Trans Ams to Tempests and Firebirds to Fieros attracted Pontiac fans at the 34th Annual Ames Performance Pontiac Nationals, which was staged July 18-20, 2025 at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio.

The country’s premier Pontiac event put together by Super Duty Promotions and Summit Motorsports Park spanned multiple acres, with many participants set up in an incredibly impressive and immersive show field, and many participants drag racing down the tremendously tight track prepared by Evan Bader and his skilled team.

The swap meet and manufacturers’ midway were also popular, and legendary and loved Pontiac racer Arnie Beswick stayed through the end of the event to meet and graciously greet fans of all ages.

Here are on-track results for the weekend:

Pontiac Speedshop.com Box on Friday: Ken MacNicol of Hendersonville, Tennessee and Tom Moon of Columbus, Ohio, staged up and steered down track. MacNicol muscled to the win with an .045 reaction time and 10.16 elapsed time in his Grand Prix while Moon finished as the runner-up with an .018 reaction time and 8.96 elapsed time in his GTO.

Clemens Muscle Cars No Box on Friday: Drew Kelleman of Wadsworth, Ohio and Alex Tavana of Erie, Pennsylvania strapped in and stomped on it. Kelleman pulled off the win with an .043 on the starting line and 10.26 at the finish line in his Ventura, while Tavana turned in an .039 and 10.56 in his LeMans.

AllPontiac.com Super Pro on Saturday: John Martin Sr. of Galloway, Ohio, was ready at the hit with a .003 as well as the high end with a 10.77 in his GTO and wrapped up the win over Scott LeComte of Brooklyn, Ohio, who was .034 and 11.56 in his Firebird.

PontiacSpeedShop.com Pro on Saturday: Rick Shofner of Athens, Illinois, flat-footed to an .031 and 9.36 in his Firebird to defeat Ron Beach of Troy, Illinois, who recorded a nice .003 and 10.90 in his GTO.

Tin Indian Performance Street on Saturday: Cole Almroth of Elmore, Ohio raced to a 13.10 in his GTO and grabbed the win over Michael Mithen of Methuen, Massachusetts, who motored to an 11.03 in his GTO.

Butler Performance Frantic 4 on Saturday: Mike Cooper and Gary Cygan were featured in their fast-flying cars, and Cooper collected the win with an .057 and 4.28 in his Firebird while Cygan clocked a 4.18 in his GTO.

Tin Indian Performance Wheelie Contest on Saturday: Ken Feber went wheels-up for the win for the third year in a row.

Kauffman Racing Equipment Quick 16, Super Pro, Pro and Street on Sunday: The purses were split due to rainfall later in the afternoon.

Plans are already being made for next year’s production of this time-honored event.
