NHRA: Race Recap from Seattle. In her third final round appearance of the season, rookie Funny Car pilot Courtney Force sailed into the winners circle on Sunday, scoring the first professional victory of her career over a resurgent Matt Hagan. Moments earlier, popular Pro Stock ace Erica Enders won her second Pro Stock national event, defeating Jason Line in the final. Their wins marked a historic moment in NHRA history as the first time that two female winners shared the podium at a national event, and with Megan Ellingson’s win in Super Street, also the first time that three females have earned wins across the pro and sportsman ranks at a single event. Joining them in victory lane was the red-hot Steve Torrence, who earned his third Top Fuel victory of the season over Shawn Langdon. ADRL: Shannon Jenkins’ Pro Nitrous victory headlined the ADRL’s inaugural visit to the state-of-the-art zMAX Dragway in North Carolina for Dragstock IX over the weekend. “The Iceman” turned away the recently dominant Doug Reisterer in the final. Tim Tindle scored his first win of the season in Pro Extreme, running low elapsed time of the weekend in the final to defeat Quain Stott. Brad Brand, pulling double duty in Pro Modified and Extreme 10.5, scored the 10.5 crown in a defeat of Dan Myers, and Bo Butner won a dominating fifth SuperCar Showdown victory over Chris Holbrook. NMCA: Clint Hairston overcame persistent rains and a tough field of Pro Street challengers to earn his first NMCA series victory on Sunday at the Beech Bend Raceway Park in Bowling Green, Ky, edging out former champ Chris Rini for the title. Eric LaFerriere, who won in Super Street for the first time less than a month ago in Joliet, made it two in a row in Bowling Green, defeating Mike Murillo in a close 6.78 to 6.79 showdown. Dave Beeson, the many-time Nostalgia Pro Street record holder, finally notched that elusive first victory, downing Joe Bucaro with a crushing 7.19 in the final. Bill Trovato and Jason Lee scored once again in Xtreme Street and Drag Radial, respectively, Don Baskin took Pro Stock honors, and Jeremy Gillam continued his dominance of the Mean Street category with another victory. NHRA Division 1: Frank Aragona scored the Competition Eliminator crown at the NHRA Northeast division series event at New Jersey’s Atco Raceway over the weekend, where he joined Super Stock winner Brian Martel, Stock champ Don Pires, Super Comp winner Herbert Roby, and Super Gas titlist Mike Sawyer in victory circle.
