After an inauspicious start in the industrial industry back in 1953, Jiffy-Tite eventually moved into the automotive performance aftermarket with their Jiffy-Tite Motorsports division and the brand took, thanks to their unique line of quick-disconnect fittings that can now be found on racing applications of all kinds.
As we learn in this video, using Jiffy-Tite fittings offers a number of benefits to the end-user. Not only does Jiffy-Tite offer a fitting to transfer just about any type of fluid you can imagine, they give a choice between valved and non-valved fittings for more applications. The difference between the two is internal – you can’t see it. A valved plug and socket will stop fluid from leaking from the hose ends when they are disconnected, much like an air line, while the non-valved plug and socket fittings are completely flow-through.
There are three different lines, the 2000, 3000, and 5000 Series fittings, each with different characteristics. They are compatible with fuel, oil, water, and transmission fluid. Fittings are available in AN, NPT, hose barb, hose end, and ORB-style fittings, and there are a number of different seal styles available to handle the different types of fluids.
They have a nifty fitting selector built into their website to help you figure out the particular part number of the fitting you’re looking for, so head on over there and check it out. All fittings flow in either direction and offer a low resistance flow design to help maximize fluid transfer performance, and they connect and disconnect without and tools for ease of use.
If you’ve ever forgotten to tighten a fuel line or transmission fitting and headed to the starting line with a leak, losing a round of racing in the process, these fittings are for you. Check out the Jiffy-Tite website for more information.
