If you had a blank check to build any type of race car what would you create?  Would you build something that was all ‘go’ with very little ‘show’, or go over the top and make something that’s both show and go? 

Troy Trepanier, owner and head madman at Rad Rides By Troy, constructed a 1969 Camaro that checks all the boxes for something with tons of show and go with his project “Race Camaro”.

Rad Rides By Troy was started in 1995 by Trepanier and as a shop quickly made a name for itself, producing top-shelf hot rods. In a few short years the shop had garnered just about every major award out there, including its 2007 Ridler award-winning 1936 Ford called “First Love”.  Trepanier took all of this experience and created this insane 1969 Camaro that cost an estimated $600,000 to finish.

The Race Camaro has all the underpinnings of a killer car, starting with a fully powdercoated Jerry Bickel tube chassis. Making sure all that chassis doesn’t go to waste, Trepanier put a massive five-inch bore space, 710 cubic inch Chuck Norton bullet in the car that makes over 1,300 horsepower. The engine is stuffed with a Sonny Bryant crank that swings a set of R&R connecting rods that are topped off with JE Pistons. Setting the tone for the motor is a massive HRE Racing sheet metal intake.  Transferring the power back to the Mark Williams rear end is a three speed Lenco mated to a Neal Chance converter. The interior of the Race Camaro was not overlooked, it sports a pair of carbon fiber seats and a full Race Pack dash and data logger.
